Mechanical Drafter/Designer

Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled and motivated Mechanical Drafter / Designer to support Engineering in the development of world-class mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic products used by first responders in emergency and rescue operations. The ideal candidate will be an experienced SolidWorks user with the ability to create 3D models, assemblies, and drawings for new products in addition to revising / maintaining legacy product records. Responsibilities also include managing the PDM Enterprise Vault, selecting new part numbers, creating Item Masters, BOM’s, design improvement, product manual modification, production support, and 3D printing of prototypes. A desire to grow within the Engineering Department and add value to an ESOP company is required.
Job Duties:
· Use SolidWorks 3D CAD software to produce component and assembly drawings, using company standards, with an understanding of manufacturing requirements for tolerance and process capabilities.
· Use SolidWorks 3D CAD software to design parts and build assemblies under Engineering direction.
· Create new Item Master files on MAPICS for component, assembly, and kit part numbers.
· Process Engineering Changes on legacy parts and assemblies, following company standards, to support ongoing manufacturing requests.
· Make new and/or update existing product instruction sheets and manuals using 3DVIA Composer, MS Word, or Adobe Acrobat as required.
· Accept full responsibility for the PDM Enterprise Vault within Engineering to manage a organize SolidWorks files according to company standards.
· Operate and maintain the Engineering Department 3D printer to create prototypes and production parts as needed.
· Work with IT to execute SolidWorks / PDM upgrades when required.
· Provide support to internal customers as requested using the Engineering Request Form established procedures.
· Contribute to team goals by accomplishing related tasks as needed.
Qualifications:
· Associate Degree in Mechanical Drafting / Design.
· Minimum 5 years of experience using SolidWorks, developing new products and supporting existing products in a high-paced manufacturing environment.
· Must be detail oriented and able to multi-task by working on more than one project at any given time.
· Good organization skills, conceptual skills, design skills, computer skills, written skills, interpersonal skills, and project planning skills required.
· Must have a quality focus, be team oriented and technology savvy.
· Self-motivated and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
· Proficient using SolidWorks, PDM, MS-Excel, MS-Word, and Adobe Acrobat. 3DVIA Composer experience a plus.
· Must have knowledge of machining processes, investment casting, forging, and plastic injection molding.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in related field.
· Familiarity with ISO 9001.
· Experience in the Fire Service Industry.
· Rubber Molding experience.

Pay: $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
