Eligible candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without visa or sponsorship.**\n\nOur client is seeking a Embedded Software Engineer (Battery Management System) to lead development of a high-voltage BMS platform. This individual will serve as the technical owner for BMS software, driving architecture, implementation, validation, and long-term strategy while partnering with embedded software and electrical engineering teams. This role is critical to maintaining ownership of core vehicle intellectual property and closing a key technical gap within the engineering organization.\n\nResponsibilities\nLead development and ownership of high-voltage BMS software\nDefine technical direction and execution plans for the BMS program\nDesign, develop, debug, test, and validate embedded software\nTranslate system requirements into software architecture and implementation\nDevelop embedded drivers from hardware schematics and component datasheets\nBring up, test, and troubleshoot new circuit board designs\nCollaborate with electrical, systems, and embedded software teams\nParticipate in code, software design, and schematic reviews\nMaintain high standards for software quality, performance, and maintainability\nSupport internal ownership of critical vehicle technology\nMentor junior engineers as the team grows\nQualifications\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field\n10+ years of embedded software development experience\n3+ years of high-voltage Battery Management System experience\nStrong C programming skills with working knowledge of C++\nExperience with bare-metal embedded systems\nDeep understanding of distributed high-voltage BMS architectures\nKnowledge of functional safety principles\nExperience in Linux development environments\nProficiency with Git and source control practices\nExperience using Python\nTrack record of delivering production-quality embedded software\nExperience using oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, logic analyzers, and related test equipment\nStrong technical communication skills\nAbility to take ownership and lead complex engineering initiatives\nComfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment\nNice to Haves\nAutomotive EV battery systems experience\nExperience with Tesla, Rivian, hybrid vehicle programs, or similar organizations\nKnowledge of EV architectures and subsystems\nExperience with CAN bus and LIN bus communications\nFamiliarity with Jira\nBackground in aerospace, medical device, industrial automation, or other high-voltage industries\nLeadership or mentoring experience\nExperience leveraging AI-assisted development tools\nOur Vetting Process\n\nAt Emergent Staffing, we work hard to find the Engineers who are the right fit for our clients.
