With a diverse team of over 750 professionals working in 13 different offices, it is our passion for our work and our commitment to our purpose that unites us.GPD is currently seeking a Construction Intern for the Akron and Columbus, OH office locations to assist in managing the construction of projects.Internship Qualifications:Working towards an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Architectural Engineering, or Civil Engineering.Background in construction trade a plus.Integrity, honesty, respect, professionalism, and the desire to learn.Must be able to accommodate a flexible travel schedule which could range between 50%-100% of time.Ability to estimate, schedule, and phase various project components.Problem-solving capabilities.High level of attention to detail and excellent record-keeping abilities.Strong written and verbal communication skills, professional writing skills.The ability to sequence concurrent projects and priorities.Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Project or similar scheduling software.Must possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License throughout time of employment.Must pass drug tests and criminal background checks throughout time of employment.Candidate should be comfortable working independently as well as within a team environment, where he/she will maintain a professional working relationship with various project team members inside and outside the company.Beneficial related experience:AutoCAD proficiency, cloud computing, and data managementVerical Construction/Building-related experienceMilitary / DOD / Federal / Healthcare work environmentADA / Insurance / Risk ManagementOSHA, elevated work, RF, cranes/rigging and other safety trainingSurvey / GIS / UAS / LIDAR / Reality CaptureElectrical, Carpentry, Concrete, Welding, CWI, Manufacturing / Fabrication, Earthwork, Engines, Generators, Solar, EV, Building Automation, Fiber OpticsResponsibilities will include:Oversight of active construction projects.Conduct jobsite meetings.Periodic or full time site inspections and reporting.Read plans, takeoff quantities, and reference specifications.Assist in Project take-offs, bidding, estimating.Assist in scheduling progress reviews, recovery schedules.Logistics / delivery planning.Participate in or conduct client meetings and weekly status reports.Generate and organize detailed records from meetings or site visits.Assist in coordination of project approvals including meeting with the municipalities to discuss requirements, coordinating with utility companies, and securing building and operating permits.Coordinating with internal architects, mechanical, electrical, structural, and civil engineers for project requirements, shop drawing reviews, request for information (RFIs).Invoice, Pay Application and Change Order reviews and recommendations.Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer-M/F/Disabled/VetOur company uses E-Verify to confirm the employment eligibility of all newly hired employees.
