We are a recognized industry leader, designing exciting and high-profile projects for iconic museums, galleries, theatre and performing arts venues, higher education buildings, libraries, parks, and historic projects around the country including: Carnegie Hall (NYC), Domino Park (NYC), Gansevoort Peninsula, Hudson River Park (NYC), The Getty Center (Los Angeles), The Metropolitan Museum of Art (NYC), Museum of Ice Cream (NYC), National Aquarium (Baltimore), The National WWII Museum (New Orleans), Obama Presidential Center (Chicago), Smithsonian National Museum of American History (Washington DC).\n\nJob Overview\nAn Engineer works with more experienced engineers to design building electrical, fire alarm, and low voltage systems.\n\nResponsibilities and Duties\n\nSystem Design: Calculations\n\nLearns to perform calculations including:\n\nElectric service load calculations\n\nVoltage drop calculations\n\nShort circuit calculations\n\nLighting calculations\n\nCOMcheck energy calculations\n\nSystem Design: Drafting\n\nWorks with supervisor to layout receptacles, panelboards, equipment, lighting/control, and fire alarm devices utilizing Revit 3D software.\n\nProduces drawing sets, including but not limited to, drawing notes, details, and single line diagrams.\n\nSelects equipment, such as receptacles, panelboards, lighting control, and fire alarm devices.\n\nGains understanding of different electrical system types.\n\nConstruction Administration\n\nConducts preliminary review of submittals and RFIs.\n\nSustainability\n\nGains experience working on sustainable projects.\n\nGains familiarity with various certifications (LEED, etc.).\n\nDesign Coordination\n\nCollaborates with fellow electrical engineers within their studio.\n\nAsks meaningful questions.\n\nClient Interface\n\nPresents self in a professional manner when interacting with external stakeholders.\n\nCode/References\n\nFamiliarizes themselves with international and local building codes.\n\nLearns energy codes.\n\nGains knowledge of NEC (National Electric Code) and NFPA codes.\n\nAdditional tasks as requested.\n\nEducation and Experience\n\nBachelor’s degree in electrical or architectural engineering, or similar field.\n\nHas EIT certification or is working towards it.\n\nProficient with Microsoft Office Suite. Experience with Autodesk Revit a plus.\n\nDesired Characteristics\n\nAbility to communicate their technical knowledge.\n\nA team player. Proven ability to work collaboratively both internally and externally to accomplish goals.\n\nHas a strong attention to detail and is committed to providing quality work.\n\nExhibits drive for continuous improvement.
