The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on drilling experience, a thorough understanding of underground utilities, preferably natural gas, and the ability to lead crews while maintaining high standards for safety, quality, production, and customer service.\n\nThe Directional Drill Foreman will be responsible for planning and executing bore operations, operating and supervising drill crews, identifying underground utility conflicts, maintaining proper bore depths and alignment, and ensuring work is completed according to construction plans and project specifications.\n\nWhat You’ll Do\nOperate and oversee horizontal directional drilling equipment safely and efficiently.\nPlan and execute directional bores based on construction drawings, bore profiles, elevations, existing utilities, and site conditions.\nRead and interpret construction plans, utility maps, profiles, and as-built documentation.\nDetermine appropriate bore paths, depths, entry and exit points, and drill-head alignment.\nLocate and identify existing underground utilities prior to and during drilling operations.\nMonitor drill head location, depth, pitch, and bore alignment throughout drilling operations.\nMake real-time adjustments to drilling operations to maintain the planned bore path and avoid underground utility conflicts.\nPerform pilot bores, reaming, pullbacks, and product installation in accordance with project requirements.\nOversee the installation of HDPE gas lines and other underground infrastructure.\nOperate and supervise the use of vacuum excavation, locating equipment, excavators, skid steers, loaders, and other underground construction equipment.\nInspect drilling equipment, vehicles, tooling, and support equipment before each shift.\nMonitor drilling conditions and identify potential issues involving soil conditions, drilling fluid, utilities, bore path, or equipment.\nCoordinate with locators, inspectors, utility owners, project managers, and other contractors to resolve field issues.\nMaintain accurate daily production records, bore logs, measurements, and as-built information.\nEnsure drill sites are properly set up, secured, maintained, and restored.\nTrain, direct, and supervise drill operators, laborers, locators, and other crew members.\nAssign daily responsibilities and maintain production schedules.\nEnsure crews follow company safety policies, OSHA requirements, and project-specific safety procedures.\nConduct or participate in daily jobsite safety meetings and equipment inspections..\nMaintain required PPE and ensure all crew members use appropriate protective equipment.\nTroubleshoot drilling and construction problems and make sound field decisions.\nWhat You’ll Need\n\nMinimum 5 years of experience in underground utility construction, with significant hands-on experience operating directional drilling equipment.\n\nPrevious experience as a Directional Drill Operator, Drill Foreman, HDD Foreman, or similar leadership role.\n\nProven experience performing HDD operations, including pilot bores, reaming, pullbacks, and utility installations.\n\nExperience with telecommunications, broadband, gas, electrical, or other underground utility construction.\n\nPrior gas industry experience preferred/required, depending on project assignment.\n\nExperience locating and working around existing underground utilities.\n\nAbility to read and interpret construction drawings, bore profiles, utility maps, and as-built documentation.\n\nStrong understanding of bore depths, elevations, grades, utility separation, and bore-path planning.\n\nExperience operating and maintaining directional drilling equipment and related tooling.\n\nAbility to supervise and manage field crews while maintaining production and safety standards.\n\nValid Class D driver's license required.\n\nAbility to operate or supervise the operation of excavators, skid steers, loaders, vacuum excavation equipment, and other construction equipment.\n\nStrong mechanical, troubleshooting, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.\n\nWorking knowledge of OSHA regulations, utility construction practices, and jobsite safety requirements.\n\nHigh school diploma or GED required;
