Director, SEC Reporting & Technical AccountingChicago, IL | HybridA large, publicly traded global organization is seeking a Director of SEC Reporting & Technical Accounting to serve as the enterprise-wide authority on external reporting and complex accounting matters.This role is built for a Big 4-trained CPA who is ready to step into a high-visibility leadership seat, owning the full SEC filing lifecycle, guiding the business through complex transactions, and setting the technical accounting standard across a sophisticated, multi-entity organization.What You'll Own:Lead the preparation, review, and timely filing of all external financial reports including financial statements, footnotes, and MD&AServe as the primary technical accounting resource across the organization — researching complex transactions, drafting position papers, and ensuring consistent application of US GAAPMonitor new and proposed accounting standards and lead implementation efforts across the finance functionPartner with Legal, FP&A, Tax, and Operations on the accounting implications of acquisitions, restructurings, and new business arrangementsOversee revenue recognition processes and ensure compliance across multiple business units and contract typesCoordinate with external auditors on technical positions, disclosure matters, and quarterly and annual audit activitiesStrengthen internal controls over financial reporting and support SOX compliance across the reporting functionBuild, lead, and develop a team of reporting and technical accounting professionalsDrive continuous improvement in reporting processes, automation, and governance standards.What We're Looking For:Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA requiredBig 4 public accounting background required12+ years of progressive experience including both public accounting and corporate reportingDeep knowledge of US GAAP and SEC reporting requirementsProven technical accounting expertise across complex transactionsMD&A drafting and technical memo writing experience requiredExperience in a global, multi-entity, publicly traded environmentExceptional leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skillsWhy This Role Stands Out:Enterprise-level technical accounting authority — real influence over policy and disclosureHigh visibility to CFO, General Counsel, and Audit CommitteeBroad scope across SEC reporting, technical accounting, and revenue recognitionGlobal organization with intellectually stimulating, complex workHybrid flexibility in downtown Chicago
