The school was founded in 1958 and expanded its highly regarded elementary and junior high program to include a high school in 2016. The high school and K-8 divisions are located on separate campuses just 1.5 miles apart.\n\nWe are currently accepting applications for an immediate start/for the 2026-2027 school year.\n\nFull-time (10 months)\nReports to the Science Department Chair\nSalary Range: $68,000-$111,588\n\nWe are currently accepting applications for the fall of 2026.\nThe full-time faculty position responsibilities include:\nTeach 2 sections of physics courses per semester (Conceptual Physics for 9th and SAS Physics for 11th/12th)\nTeach one section of an elective for one semester (Examples: Astronomy, Astrophysics, Physics of Music)\nAct as an Advisor to a group of 10-12 students\nFacilitate a group in the Social Innovation Program (SIP) during the weekly SIP block\nSupervise Talking Leaves presentations twice a year\nAct as a chaperone and driver for a camping trip once per year (with optional second trip)\nMentor a student club or Stewardship committee\nAttend Morning Meetings daily\nQualifications\nQualified candidates must have a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience and must have experience teaching physics, engineering, or a related field.\nA bachelor's degree is required, a master's or PhD preferred.\nSuccessful candidates will also have the following qualifications:\nA commitment to equity and inclusion\nStrong interpersonal skills\nDemonstrated leadership experience in a K-12 school setting\nDemonstrated interest in inquiry-based, experiential, and deeper learning and competency-based assessment\nInterest in participating in field studies/camping trips\nInterest in interdisciplinary learning and teaching\nTeach from an inclusive, anti-racist standpoint\nDemonstrated sensitivity to, and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of high school students\nSequoyah has a rich history of diversity and seeks candidates to enhance that tradition.
