Current Opportunities Controls Specialist/Energy Engineer Job Responsibilities: Review building and system plans, collect and analyze field data. Perform on-site inspections and efficiency assessments of a wide range of building systems, equipment, and controls systems. Evaluate existing control systems for issues, improved sequence of operations, and implementations to improve energy use. Troubleshoot existing DDC systems. Use controls experience to assist with energy audits at various levels of detail. Analyze measurement and verification data to determine the effectiveness of completed projects using DDC trend data. Help identify, evaluate, and develop energy conservation measures. Prepare building descriptions, equipment inventories and operating schedules. Assemble reports that effectively communicate the energy analysis results and recommendations for cost-effective measures for energy improvements. Coordinate project work/information with team members, clients, and vendors. Qualifications: Associates or B.S. in Engineering or Engineering Technology 3+ years of experience with installation, startup and commissioning of building automation systems, electronic controls, and HVAC equipment. Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and mechanical plans Ability to read and understand engineering specifications and HVAC sequences of operations. Proven electro-mechanical aptitude (based on experience and/or education) Proficient in Microsoft Office (word, excel, and outlook) Good verbal and written communication skills Energy Engineer with knowledge of building systems, HVAC, lighting, renewable energy systems and building construction. Responsible for conducting energy audits (ASHRAE Level 1, 2 and 3) and performing energy analysis involving a wide range of systems/equipment. Capabilities in performing on-site inspections and efficiency assessments; collecting and analyzing field data related to energy usage; preparing building descriptions, equipment inventories and operating schedules; identifying, evaluating and developing energy conservation measures including energy savings calculations; and report writing. B.S. in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering is preferred; will consider an Associate’s Degree in Engineering Technology or a related field. Prior experience with building simulation/modeling software and/or testing equipment (blower door, combustion, thermal imaging and/or other measurement and testing equipment) is a plus. Professional certification (i.e. CEM, CEA, LEED, BPI, HERS Rater) or work toward obtaining certification is desirable.
