We are responsible for all of the Echo audio features including Spatial audio and Home Theater. Your work will have a large impact on the lives of Echo customers as music listening is the most popular feature.\n\nKey job responsibilities\n\nIn this role, you will:\n\nBe the champion of Echo music processing technology innovation from ideation, proof of concept to productization\nPropose new research projects, get buy-in from stakeholders, and lead the team for successful execution\nWork closely with an inter-disciplinary product development team including outside partners to bring the prototype algorithm into commercialization\nBe a team leader in an open and collaborative environment\n\nBASIC QUALIFICATIONS\n5+ years of industry or academic research experience\nExperience in embedded development in C/C++, or experience with full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations\nExperience in written and oral communication, including the ability to communicate with all levels in the organization (technical, business, executive)\nProven track record in commercializing innovative audio (music processing especially in spatial audio) algorithms\nPassion for high fidelity music rendering and skilled in critical listening\n- Expert knowledge in music signal processing theory and applications- filter design optimization, limiter/compressor, dynamic range compression, up mixing, binaural rendering etc\n\nProficient with real-time audio programming in C/C++ and Python/Matlab\nPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS\nHave peer-reviewed scientific contributions in premier journals and conferences\n- Experience with ML application in music processing - generative model (diffusion or auto-encoder) for source separation, up mixing and 3D audio applications\n\nBasic understanding of physical acoustics, room acoustics, and transducer theory\n- Good understanding of a full smart audio system design - microphone array, loudspeaker, ADC, gain stages\n- Familiarity with voice processing - beamforming, echo cancellation, noise reduction etc.\n- Understanding of music production process- stereo and multichannel audio formats, mixing/mastering and reproduction\n\nExperience with mentoring junior researchers and graduate interns\n\nAmazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status.\n\nLos Angeles County applicants: Job duties for this position include: work safely and cooperatively with other employees, supervisors, and staff; adhere to standards of excellence despite stressful conditions; communicate effectively and respectfully with employees, supervisors, and staff to ensure exceptional customer service; and follow all federal, state, and local laws and Company policies.
