Osmo is headquartered in Elizabeth, NJ, with an additional office in Somerville, MA.\r\nKey Responsibilities\r\nEHS Program Strategy & Ownership\r\nOwn and drive the end-to-end EHS program — strategy, regulatory positioning, audit posture, incident response — across the lab and associated chemical-handling environments.\r\nDevelop the EHS program strategy: assess current-state risks and gaps, establish near-term compliance priorities, and build a multi-year compliance roadmap.\r\nSet company-wide EHS standards and drive adoption across R&D, manufacturing, and facilities without a direct reporting line.\r\nOwn all required permits, registrations, documentation, and compliance calendars.\r\nServe as the subject-matter expert and primary point of contact for EHS-related matters across the company.\r\nSafety, Compliance & Risk Management\r\nEnsure and interpret compliance with applicable OSHA, EPA, DOT, RCRA, and state regulatory requirements.\r\nLead safety risk assessments; advise engineering, R&D, and operations leaders on hazard identification and mitigation.\r\nDevelop and own incident reporting, investigation, and corrective-action processes.\r\nLead emergency preparedness, spill response, and fire safety programs.\r\nAuthor SOPs, JHAs, and chemical hygiene plans from a blank page where they do not yet exist.\r\nInfluence, Mentorship & Standard-Setting\r\nUplevel the EHS literacy of scientists, operators, and engineers — even with no direct reports.\r\nMentor junior EHS practitioners (current or future) and set the technical bar for the function.\r\nPartner with R&D and facilities leadership on lab build-outs, chemical inventory expansion, and new-process safety reviews.\r\nTraining & Operational Support\r\nDesign, deliver, and continuously improve EHS training for onboarding and ongoing operations — including role-specific tracks for lab, manufacturing, and warehouse staff.\r\nOwn training matrices and ensure required certifications remain current.\r\nLead audits, inspections, and customer EHS questionnaires.\r\nServe as the primary liaison with regulators, auditors, and emergency responders.\r\nQualifications\r\nRequired\r\nBachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field.\r\n10–15+ years of EHS experience in a manufacturing, chemical, pharma, or industrial-research environment.\r\nCSP (Certified Safety Professional) — preferred. Single-credential candidates considered only if program-ownership track record is unusually strong.\r\nDemonstrated track record of designing AND running an EHS program end-to-end — not just executing within someone else's program.\r\nHands-on hazmat depth: chemical handling, OSHA, RCRA, lab safety, and the ability to author SOPs and JHAs from scratch.\r\nProven ability to set standards and drive adoption across a scientific or engineering organization without a reporting line.\r\nBase Salary: $140k - $160k\r\nFor all Full-Time Employees, compensation is just one component of Osmo's total rewards approach, which is designed to support the well-being, growth, and long-term success of our team members.
