They are also responsible for several administrative responsibilities outside of the classroom. Instructors should help international students achieve their academic goals through English language instruction and/or preparation for standardized tests while also maximizing student satisfaction with KI classes.\r\nKey Job Responsibilities\r\n\r\n\r\nTeach any level of classes using the KI curriculum as assigned by the Academic Manager.\r\n\r\n\r\nMaintain a classroom atmosphere conducive to learning which maximizes student satisfaction.\r\n\r\n\r\nEffectively counsel and advise students regarding their academic performance and goals.\r\n\r\n\r\nAccept and incorporate feedback on classroom performance given by the Academic Manager to ensure consistent improvement in teaching quality.\r\n\r\n\r\nPrepare lesson plans according to established syllabus and submit to the Academic Manager upon request.\r\n\r\n\r\nAccurately record attendance and submit rosters to the Academic Manager as directed within required deadlines.\r\n\r\n\r\nAccurately record student performance and submit Individual Student Reports (ISRs) to the Academic Manager as directed within required deadlines.\r\n\r\n\r\nAttend instructor's meetings and in-house workshops to consistently improve teaching skills.\r\n\r\n\r\nWork to incorporate new teaching technology (e.g Smartboards) into your lessons in order to offer a dynamic, engaging, and enjoyable student experience.\r\n\r\n\r\nEffectively communicate with school administrative staff regarding planned and unplanned absences; provide clear instructions, complete lesson plans, and materials for substitutes.\r\n\r\n\r\nBecome familiar with and adhere to company policies and procedures.\r\n\r\n\r\nComplete other job duties as assigned.\r\n\r\n\r\nMinimum Qualifications\r\n\r\n\r\nBachelor's Degree (or equivalent) in combination with TESOL, CELTA, TEFL certificate (including practicum) or six months of ESL/EFL teaching experience.\r\n\r\n\r\nSuperior skills in creating a dynamic, interactive classroom experience.\r\n\r\n\r\nMust be authorized to work in the United States.\r\n\r\n\r\nPreferred Qualifications\r\n\r\n\r\nExperience with industry, international students and/ or 1-2 years of international teaching experience\r\n\r\n\r\nOne or more foreign language ability\r\n\r\n\r\nPhysical Requirements\r\n\r\n\r\nSitting/Standing\r\n\r\n\r\nLifting up to 20+ pounds\r\n\r\n\r\nCarrying\r\n\r\n\r\nGrasping\r\n\r\n\r\nReaching\r\n\r\n\r\nVisual Acuity\r\n\r\n\r\nWriting\r\n\r\n\r\nSpeaking\r\n\r\n\r\nListening\r\n\r\n\r\nIn compliance with California guidelines regarding pay transparency, our pay scales for Substitute Instructors In California; from teachers with no experience, to well qualified and experienced candidates:\r\n\r\n$21.67 Avg\r\n$21.00 Min\r\n$23.00 Max\r\n\r\nLocation\r\nBerkeley, CA, USA\r\nEmployee Type\r\nEmployee\r\nJob Functional Area\r\nInstructors\r\nKaplan lnternational is an equal opportunities employer and positively encourages applications from suitably qualified and eligible candidates regardless of sex, race, disability, age, sexual orientation, gender reassignment, religion or belief, marital status, or pregnancy and maternity.
