Certified Mechanic / Automotive Mechanic
Job Description
The Automotive Mechanic is responsible for diagnosing, servicing, repairing, and maintaining mechanical and electrical systems in vehicles (engine, transmission, brakes, suspensions, HVAC, electrical, etc.). The role ensures that vehicles are safe, reliable, and meet performance standards. Do not pass up this chance, apply quickly if your experience and skills match what is in the following description.Core Responsibilities:Diagnose vehicle mechanical and electrical faults using diagnostic tools, OBD-II scanners, and testing instruments.Perform routine maintenance: oil changes, filters, brakes, belts, fluids, and lubrication.Repair and replace mechanical components: engine, transmission, drivetrain, suspension, steering, exhaust, and cooling.Work on electrical systems: batteries, alternators, wiring, starters, sensors.Perform alignments, balancing, brake system services, and HVAC repairs.Test repaired systems and road-test vehicles to verify proper operation.Keep accurate records of diagnostics, repairs, parts used, and labor time.Order and manage replacement parts, liaise with the parts department.Maintain workshop tools, equipment, and cleanliness.Stay up to date on technical bulletins, recalls, and OEM repair procedures.Follow safety procedures, use protective equipment, and comply with shop / regulatory policies.Qualifications / Requirements:High school diploma or equivalent.Formal training/certification (e.g., automotive technology program) is strongly preferred.3+ years of experience in automotive repair, or a combination of experience + schooling.Proficiency in diagnostics, mechanical repair, and electronics systems.Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.Use of diagnostic equipment, scan tools, multimeters, etc.Valid Florida driver's license (or ability to obtain).ASE certifications (A1–A8, etc.) preferred or required.Under Miami-Dade's Motor Vehicle Repair Ordinance, mechanics (especially specialty or master mechanics) must hold a permit or certification from the County Director for mechanical repair work.
