Healthcare Dining Supervisor

Location: 3100 Shore Drive, Virginia Beach, VAReports To: Nutrition Care ManagerFLSA: Non-Exempt (Hourly)Schedule: Must be flexible to work a schedule between 6am to 7:15pm, every other weekend/ holiday. Their teamwork, attention to detail, and genuine love for what they do, creates not just great food, but a true sense of community around the table.The Nutrition Care Supervisor is responsible for the supervision of Dining Services staff, including Nutrition Care Partners (NCPs). Ensures that all department and facility policies and procedures are adhered to at all times. Ensures proper assembly and service of meal items, as well as sanitation and safety in all areas of dining service in the Hoy Center and Sea Glass. Ensures safe and efficient use of resources. Demonstrates leadership through verbal and written communication. Must be able to exhibit courtesy, tact, and reasonable speed in duty performance. Responsible, with direction of the Nutrition Care Manager, for hiring, training, evaluation, and discipline of NCPs. Must be able to make decisions independently regarding staffing and resident satisfaction issues. Ensures all dining areas are CMS audit ready at all times.What You’ll Do In This RoleResponsible for managing the Nutrition Care Partner Team, including staffing - Screens, interviews, selects, and trains new team members. Conducts performance evaluations and holds employees accountable in accordance with established policies and procedures. Maintains employee files, documenting such personnel standard of conduct issues such as tardiness, absences, counseling sessions, etc. Ensures all policies and procedures are adhered to. Prepares payroll for submission. Monitors and reports department overtime. Completes employee schedule within budget guidelines. Coordinates daily “Showtime” meetings utilizing training and customer service goals. Participate in all scheduled Dining Services Manager meetings and Nutrition Care Team Leadership meetings. Conducts monthly “Chat” sessions as assigned.Represents Dining Services in all areas of Westminster Canterbury with a positive manner, using established customer service guidelines. Conducts audits during meal service to monitor staff compliance with safety and sanitation guidelines. Participates in the Performance Improvement Program as assigned. Completes month-end inventory. Conducts mandatory in-services (Relias) and ensures completion of all compliance requirements, i.e., annual PPD’s, COVID testing, vaccines etc.Demonstrates knowledge of all therapeutic diets and the proper food/condiments served with each diet. Demonstrates knowledge of proper food portioning of all items for residents. Demonstrates knowledge of infection control and sanitation with regard to food temperatures, hand washing techniques, use of gloves and dating of food items. Accurately identifies standard temperatures for refrigerated food storage. Demonstrates knowledge of proper chemical usage and MSDS. Follows prescribed work assignments daily, maintaining proper time frames and completing all required duties, and all other duties as assigned.Be able to work in all Lighthouse kitchens 2-3 days a week.Adhere standards and conduct of a supervisorAll other duties as assigned. Ability to master math concepts.Ability to remember multiple tasks/assignments over long periods of time.Physical RequirementsMust be able to lift up to twenty-five pounds or more. Must be able to push and pull carts/objects. Must be able to stand up to 8 hours consecutively. Must be capable of standing and maneuvering independently and safely around the work area. Performance of job tasks will involve exposure to cleaning chemicals,and other hazardous materials.Sufficient manual dexterity to operate a fire extinguisher and to manipulate kitchen equipment including stove top, oven, waffle iron, griddle, Panini, milkshake machine, blenders, can openers, knives, etc.RequiredThe Experience You'll BringEducation: High school diploma or equivalentAt least two years experience in a healthcare environment At least two years of leadership experienceServSafe Certified or obtained within 90 days of hireCPR Certified or obtained within 60 days of hireCertified Dietary Manager (CDM) or obtained within two years of hireAdvanced computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft and Google Applications.
