Operations Engineer
Operations at Gotransverse is focused on Service Reliability Engineering concepts – where we have amazing Engineers capable of software, network, data, and systems ENGINEERING. The emphasis here is on designing, managing, and maintaining services that exhibit high reliability. We design towards all of our infrastructure components being managed in the same way as software components. We believe in the principles and methodologies of DevOps, and we strive to empower engineers – whether systems or feature focused, to build and deploy the most amazing, scalable, and effective solutions. Right now, we want to add another engineer to our Operations team – someone with a modern range of skillsets like Linux, AWS, a strong background in databases and overall data management. This engineer will eventually join our on-call rotation and be capable of, and responsible for all-around service delivery and reliability with the rest of the Gotransverse service delivery team members.
The day to day (responsibilities):
Perform application support for the Gotransverse revenue operations solution
Assist with provisioning and configuring customer solutions
Implement internal networks, firewall rules, application servers and data processing servers
Define and execute production change management and incident response procedures
Respond to and resolve production system network, hardware and software issues
Ensures secure configuration of all systems and document security policies for PCI compliance
Helps support production system networks, servers and software
Desired Skills and Experience
Requirements snapshot (what you bring):
BS/BA degree or equivalent industry experience
Strong communication skills for working closely with broader technical team
Self-motivated with exceptional organizational skills
3+ years of experience installing, configuring and performing routine troubleshooting and performance evaluation tasks in Linux environments
Experience managing requests and tasks in a ticketing or incident management system
Experience with AWS required
Strong understanding of RDBMS like MySQL and PostgreSQL
3+ years of experience deploying, troubleshooting and monitoring Java applications on the web
Strong configuration, deployment, upgrade and patching skills for Apache Tomcat servers
Unix shell, Perl or Python programming or scripting skills
Working knowledge of DNS, NFS/NIS+, HTTP, SSL and/or mail protocols
Working knowledge of TCP/IP networking, including routing, switching and security
Knowledge of load balancing or high availability architectures is a plus
Deep knowledge of Java web applications and technologies on Linux/Unix is highly valued
Understanding of SOAP and REST web services
Experience with IaaC tooling including Terraform, CloudFormation, etc. required
Experience with PCI compliance
Experience with Ansible a plus
Experience with Enterprise Linux distributions
Experience with Kubernetes a plus
Experience with Helm Charts a plus
Experience with SCAP Security a plus
