Job Summary The Nevada State Public Defender, Ely Office, is responsible for representing indigent clients in the Municipal Court of Ely Township, Ely Justice Court and the Seventh Judicial District CourtEssential Qualifications Nevada Bar Membership is required or candidates must be eligible to practice under the rural practice provision of the Nevada Supreme Court Rule 49.9.Preference may be given to candidates that are Cat A certified, self motivated, possess conflict resolution skills, proficient in Microsoft 360 programs, Legal Case Management software systems, and is fluent in Spanish.Experience in criminal defense lawJob Duties Meeting with clients in and out of custodyReviewing and analyzing discoveryConsulting with clients, investigators, and additional office staffManaging court appearances, client meetings, telephonic conferences, and negotiating with opposing counselThis position may supervise one or more Deputy Public Defenders and/or contracted attorneys.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Written and Verbal CommunicationTime managementOrganizationThe State of Nevada is an equal opportunity employer dedicated to building diverse, inclusive, and innovative work environments with employees who reflect our communities and enthusiastically serve them.
