Supervisor, Revenue AccountingFairfax, VA- HybridCompensation- 120,000-140,000 + bonusComprehensive Benefits PackagePosition OverviewWe are seeking an experienced and Revenue Accounting Lead to join our clients growing finance and accounting organization. This position will serve as a key leader within the accounting function, providing technical accounting expertise related to revenue recognition while overseeing the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of revenue accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.The Revenue Accounting Lead will partner closely with Accounting, FP&A, Operations, Legal, Sales, and Executive Leadership to ensure revenue is recognized in accordance with U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting requirements. This role is ideal for an accounting professional with extensive experience in revenue accounting within a publicly traded environment and a strong understanding of SOX compliance.Key ResponsibilitiesLead the company's revenue accounting function and serve as the primary subject matter expert on revenue recognition matters.Interpret and apply U.S. GAAP, including ASC 606, to complex business transactions, contracts, and emerging revenue streams.Develop, implement, and maintain revenue accounting policies, procedures, and controls across multiple lines of business.Evaluate customer contracts and commercial arrangements to determine appropriate accounting treatment and revenue recognition methodologies.Prepare and review revenue-related accounting memos and technical accounting analyses.Partner with business leaders to assess the accounting implications of new products, service offerings, pricing models, and contractual arrangements.Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue close activities, including reconciliations, journal entries, and reporting requirements.Support SEC reporting processes by providing revenue-related disclosures and technical accounting support.Ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements and maintain an effective internal control environment.Collaborate with internal and external auditors on revenue accounting matters, control testing, and audit requests.Identify opportunities for process improvements, automation, and scalability within revenue accounting operations.Provide guidance and mentorship to accounting staff while promoting best practices across the finance organization.Monitor changes in accounting standards and regulatory requirements and assess their impact on the organization. QualificationsBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation required.8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including significant experience leading revenue accounting initiatives.Experience within a publicly traded company environment is required.Public accounting experience with a national or Big Four accounting firm.Deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP, ASC 606 revenue recognition standards, and SEC reporting requirements.Strong experience designing and implementing revenue accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.Demonstrated experience supporting SOX compliance programs and control frameworks.Experience preparing technical accounting memoranda and presenting accounting conclusions to senior leadership and auditors.Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex accounting concepts to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.Advanced proficiency with ERP systems and Microsoft Excel.Experience supporting multiple business lines, products, or service offerings.Experience leading accounting process improvement and systems enhancement initiatives.
