This position is responsible for database administration, data quality management, reporting, mapping support, and analysis activities that help ensure the reliable distribution of weather and emergency communications throughout the United States and internationally. The ideal candidate combines strong database management skills with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to support mission-critical operational systems.\n\n*Key Responsibilities:*\n\n* Perform Database tasks on the NWS dissemination systems such as NOAA Weather Radio All Hazards (NWR), NOAA Weather Wire Service (NWWS), International Services and Communication Systems (ISCS), Emergency Manager’s Weather Information Network (EMWIN) and All Hazards Collection System (HazCollect) – Legacy (HCL).\n* Develop, maintain access and correct databases.\n* Perform accurate database entries, corrections, and use in mapping efforts for NWR sites and charts.\n* Perform and contribute to the team effort in resolving all DST tasking and meeting performance objectives.\n* Provide weekly feedback to the Team Lead and Government Task Manager(s) on assigned tasks noting any schedule or deliverable variances.\n* Provide articulate, well written responses, tailored to the intended audience to include responses to public inquires, Standard Operating Procedures, documentation to accompany detailed reports, and other ad hoc documentation as requested.\n* Make minor additions (add text) to the website.\n\n*Required Qualifications:*\n\n* Excellent written and verbal English communication at levels from novice to expert.\n* 4-year degree in Engineering (preferred)\n* 5-7 years of experience in General Engineering\n* Ability to function well as part of a team\n* Data‑Driven Mindset – Uses data as the foundation for insights, strategies, and actions.\n* Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust security clearance\n\nExperienced with Microsoft Excel:\n\n* Pivot tables\n* Lookup tables\n* Selection (dropdown) lists\n* Ability to manipulate and export data\n\nExperienced with Microsoft Access\n\n* Develop and maintain relational tables\n* Lookup tables\n* Develop complex queries from multiple tables\n* Normalize data to improve efficiency\n* Scripting to create queries to update data and generate reports\n\n*Preferred Qualifications:*\n\n* Scripting (Python, Perl)\n* Functional knowledge of HTML, Javascript\n* Experience with GIS\n\n*Physical Demands:*\n\nWhile performing the duties of the job, the incumbent will be exposed to normal demands associated with an office environment. Ability to work on a computer for long periods, and communicate with individuals by telephone, email, and face to face.
