The Material Handler uses various material-handling equipment to safely transport freight, stock, and other materials to and from staging and processing areas. This position is also responsible for maintaining an organized work area and coordinating the disposal or re-use of packaging and other materials that accumulate throughout the material-handling process.Essential Duties And ResponsibilitiesAdhere to all warehouse safety guidelines, Job Safety Analysis (JSA), and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements to prevent incidents or injury to self or othersRead work orders or receive oral instructions to determine work assignments and material and equipment needsMove freight, stock, and other materials to and from staging and processing areas using a forklift and/or pallet jack in the warehouseLoad and unload materials from inspection lines and other processing areas while periodically using a hoistDetermine placement of material based on labels or other markingsCollect, sort, and properly dispose of or coordinate the re-use of packaging, trash, and other materials that accumulate throughout the loading and unloading processMaintain an organized and clean work areaPerform other duties as assignedWork EnvironmentWork is performed mostly in an uncontrolled warehouse atmosphere with exposure to conditions such as dust, fumes, noise, and varying temperatures. This employee must demonstrate continued knowledge of Haz/Com regulations and requirements. All employees must follow safety standards and wear all required personal protective equipment in designated areas.Physical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential function of this job. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, use hands and fingers, grip, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch and talk and hear. Standing 90%, Walking/sitting 10%.
