Your specific responsibilities are commiserated with experience and the expected learning outcomes.\n\nInternships with Gessner Engineering uniquely feature opportunities to grow not only in your technical proficiency, but to develop as a well-rounded industry professional. Gessner delivers on this by granting our interns opportunities to work on active projects, receive training and mentorship from engineering professionals, collaborate across disciplines, and more.\n\nDuties & Responsibilities\n\nWork in a team setting with other team members as well as other design disciplines like civil, geotechnical, and external sub consultants when necessary.\nAssist with design for a variety of projects including residential, commercial, and higher education.\nVisit project sites to assist with the collection of forensics and as-built data and conduct construction administration observation duties.\nManage time and workload effectively.\nWork under the supervision and mentoring of structural engineers and designers.\n\nLearning Objectives\n\nExperience in the use of various structural design codes and specifications including but not limited to IBC, IRC, ASCE 7, ACI, PCI, AISC, NDS, and TMS\nExperience in design and detailing of various construction materials\nExperience in the design and analysis of building structures\nExperience in the development of comprehensive construction documents\nBluebeam, Autodesk REVIT, RISA, or RAM Structural System experience\n\nQualifications\n\nEducation\nRequired - Must be actively enrolled as a junior, senior or graduate student working towards a Bachelor of Science or Master’s degree in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering with Structural focus.\nRequired - Must possess at least a 3.0 GPA\nExperience/Skills\nPreferred - Experience with Microsoft Office programs, CAD software and BIM\nRequired - Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals and groups\nBe solutions minded. Always find a way to be part of the solution.\nBe collaborative. Must have a positive attitude, work well with co-workers and clients.\nTake initiative.
