Responsible for maintaining, optimizing, and troubleshooting all VDI systems to ensure reliable, secure, and high-performance virtual desktop services for end users. VDI Engineer will support deployment, configuration, updates, and lifecycle management of VMware while ensuring compliance with cybersecurity requirements. Collaborates with system administrators, network teams, and cybersecurity personnel to implement best practices, resolve system issues, and enhance the overall virtual desktop experience for RRMC customers.\n\nEssential Duties & Responsibilities:\nDeploy VMware/VDI infrastructure including engineering, planning, testing, coordinating and scheduling.\nImplement Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) in an environment with 500+ desktop and VPN users on 3 different networks.\nParticipate in and lead aspects of major network installations and upgrades.\nInterface with vendors to ensure resolution during network outages or periods of reduced performance.\nDevelop and implement testing strategies and document results.\nRespond to escalated requests for technical assistance\nProvide advice and training to Tier 2 desktop support, Help Desk, and end-users.\nRespond to Remedy incident and change request tickets to implement standard level changes and troubleshoots/ resolve incidents/problems.\nMaintain current knowledge of relevant hardware and software applications as assigned.\nParticipate in special projects as required.\nDevelop/Document Techniques, Tactics & Procedures (TTPs) and Disaster Recovery plans.\nDevelop and maintain a VDI Knowledge database on SharePoint.\nInterface with industry and other Government agencies to develop best practices in VDI implementations and deployments.\nEducation, Certification & Experience Requirements\nEducation Required:\nA bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science or Cybersecurity related field\n\nCertification Required:\nVMware Horizon 8.x Professional.\n\nOR\nVMware Certified Professional - Desktop Management 2023.\n\nExperience Required:\nMinimum 5 years of VDI implementation and administration experience.\nExpertise in designing, configuring, and supporting enterprise virtualization technologies for desktop and VPN.\nKnowledge, Skills & Abilities:\nKnowledge:\nKnowledge on Virtual Desktop Infrastructure technologies such as VMware Horizon, VMware vSphere, and related virtualization components.\nWindows desktop operating systems, user profile management, and application delivery in virtual environments.\nNetworking fundamentals include TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and load balancing as they relate to VDI operations.\nCybersecurity requirements, IA policies, and secure configuration practices for virtualized systems.\nSkills:\nConfiguring, deploying, and troubleshooting VDI environments, including virtual desktops, application pools, and connection servers.\nMonitoring system performance, analyzing logs, and identifying root causes of VDI-related issues.\nManaging updates, patches, and lifecycle maintenance for VDI images and virtual machines.\nDocumenting system changes, configurations, and standard operating procedures.\nAbilities:\nWork collaboratively with system, network, and cybersecurity teams to support end-to-end VDI operations.\nProvide timely technical support, resolve escalated user issues, and ensure consistent end-user experience.\nPlan and implement enhancements, capacity upgrades, and optimization efforts within the VDI environment.\nCommunicate technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.\nWorking Conditions/Working Environment/Physical Demands:\nThis position is performed in a professional environment, remote/home office setting, or on-site government facility, as required by the contract.\nStandard work schedule is Monday through Friday, during normally scheduled business hours, with occasional evening or weekend work required to meet critical deadlines.\nWork involves extensive computer and secure network use, including periods of prolonged sitting, data entry, and screen time.\nThis role requires working independently with minimal supervision, while also collaborating virtually or in person with CCS teams, subcontractors, and government stakeholders.\nOccasional travel may be required for customer meetings, training, or project-related activities.\n\nWhy Join Command Cyber Solutions:\nWe recognize that our success begins with our people.
