We look for individuals who value precision, accountability, and collaboration and who want to help build networks, processes, and partnerships that are engineered to last.\n\nJob Summary\n\nThe Manager OSP Engineering leads a team of engineers and vendors in designing, maintaining, and expanding Lightpath’s fiber network. This role drives strategic initiatives, manages complex and ambiguous projects, and fosters innovation and operational excellence across the Fiber Design & Construction organization.\n\nResponsibilities\n\nNetwork Design & Optimization\nDesign conduit and fiber routes for services including Dark Fiber, Ethernet, SD-WAN, WDM, DIA, and FTT.\nDevelop creative solutions using Lightpath assets to meet customer-specific routing and diversity needs.\nKnowledge of and ability to research and understand jurisdictional requirements related to construction of fiber in public and private easements and right of ways (ROW)\nResearch databases and records to support network design and fiber optimization.\nCreate and provide output specifying selected fiber path and required splicing work for installations, relocations, and restorations.\nReview and approve construction drawings, splice plans, BOMs, and route analyses for challenging and specialized crossings.\nInvestigate proposed routes by fielding, identifying potential challenges and proposing alternative paths where necessary.\n\nTeam Leadership & Mentorship\nEnsure timely delivery of vendor commitments through the engineering phase.\nLead training sessions and mentor team members on industry practices and project execution.\nProvide coaching and support to peers and junior staff.\nDrive best practices, process development/improvements and standards.\n\nData & Systems Management\nMaintain accurate records for internal project planning tools.\nMonitor and drive key metrics surrounding program delivery timelines, quality and resource allocation.\nEnsure clean and accurate inventory records across all internal tools.\n\nCustomer & Vendor Coordination\nEstablish effective communication with internal teams, vendors, and customers.\nManage vendor relationships and ensure accountability.\nProvide weekly updates on customer calls surrounding project completeness, weekly achievements, risk and forecast as appropriate.\n\nOperational Support\nProvide real-time support for field maintenance and repair.\nOrganize work efficiently using time management techniques.\nPerform additional duties as assigned to support company objectives.\n\nQualifications\n10+ years of telecom fiber network experience, preferably within construction or fiber design departments.\n4-Year Degree in Engineering is a plus.\nAbility to function independently and self-motivate.\nStrong leadership skills including sound hiring practices, mentorship, and coaching techniques.\nExperience in managing deployment, construction and OSP projects is required.\nExperience in reviewing CAD drawings for submission to local municipalities and jurisdictions.\nExperience managing budgets, developing scopes of work, and contractual documents for vendor outsourcing.\nStrong interpersonal skills for supporting and communicating with cross-functional teams.\nStrong aptitude for training and mentoring less experienced team members.\nProficiency using and leveraging GIS-based data management systems.\nProficiency in Google Earth and managing KMZ files.\nKnowledge and experience in fiber construction practices.\nProficiency in MS Office suite including MS Visio.\nExperience using Salesforce.com platform is a plus.\nExperience using AutoCAD is a plus.\nStrong analytical, organizational, and time management skills with ability to prioritize assignments.\n\nLightpath is an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to recruiting, hiring and promoting qualified people of all backgrounds regardless of gender, race, color, creed, national origin, religion, age, marital status, pregnancy, physical or mental disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, military or veteran status, or any other basis protected by federal, state, or local law.\n\nLightpath collects personal information about its applicants for employment that may include personal identifiers, professional or employment related information, photos, education information and/or protected classifications under federal and state law.
