They use presentations, email, phone, and social media to connect with customers virtually and in‑person. They empathize with customers, ask clarifying questions, and present solutions that address technical needs. Okta’s Engineers combine technical acumen with business insight, advising a diverse set of customers on the value of using Okta’s Identity Platform.\n\nThe Solutions Engineer Opportunity\nReporting to the Senior Manager, Solutions Engineering, the Solutions Engineer is a functional business consultant with a passion for technology and the advanced ability to develop, position, and demonstrate product‑specific solutions during sales cycles, while achieving quarterly and annual sales goals for an assigned territory.\n\nWhat you'll be doing\n\nWork alongside the sales team as the technical and domain expert for a customer‑facing sales team to help customers understand the value of Okta’s solutions.\n\nUnderstand customer challenges and business issues and provide product demonstrations that align solutions with customer needs.\n\nAnswer product feature and technical questions from customers, partners, and Okta colleagues.\n\nPlan and deliver Proof of Concepts for customers with complex use cases, collaborating with other Okta engineering teams as needed.\n\nProvide feedback to product management about product enhancements that can address customer needs and add value.\n\nShare and learn best practices and reusable assets with other Solutions Engineers to enhance team quality and efficiency.\n\nStay current on competitive analysis and market differentiation.\n\nSupport marketing events including executive briefings, conferences, user groups, and trade shows.\n\nWhat you'll bring to the role\n\n5+ years pre‑sales engineering experience selling SaaS products.\n\nA passion for serving customers, demonstrated in a customer‑facing role such as consulting, support, or pre‑sales.\n\nAn ability to quickly communicate complex technical ideas, ideally on the fly using a whiteboard.\n\nExperience with at least one standard network security protocol (e.g., OAuth, OAuth2, SAML, LDAP).\n\nHands‑on experience in web (JavaScript, HTML, frontend frameworks), mobile (iOS, Android), backend (Java, C#, Node.js, Python, PHP, Ruby), or IP‑based real‑time communications.\n\nUnderstanding of core security concerns within typical applications (password hashing, SSL/TLS, encryption at rest, XSS, CSRF).\n\nExceptional communication skills.\n\nConfidence dispensing knowledge to highly skilled and experienced audiences.\n\nTypically 25% travel.\n\nPreferred: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, MIS, or comparable field.\n\nBenefits and Total Rewards\n\nSupporting Your Well‑Being\n\nDriving Social Impact\n\nDeveloping Talent and Fostering Connection + Community\n\nOkta is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
