Operations Manager

OPERATIONS MANAGER JOB DESCRIPTION POSTION SUMMARY: The operations manager position will be focused on overall manufacturing operations to ensure optimized production and adherence to quality standards. This position will lead the program managers from the textile and CNC manufacturing divisions as well as managers from other organizations to meet company production goals. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Bachelor's degree in business management, finance, operations management, engineering/technology, and / or 15 years of experience in a related field. 2. Eight years of minimum experience in production control or production management in a small to mid-size shop machining/manufacturing environment (aerospace, automotive, or equivalent). 3. Experience in supply chain management. 4. Experience in implementing and utilizing an ERP system or another method of manufacturing and resource planning. 5. Familiarity with lean concepts in a manufacturing environment (5S, Lean, Six Sigma, etc.). 6. Two years minimum of shop floor management and operations experience; ownership of productivity, machine utilization, and machine scheduling along-side manufacturing team leaders. 7. Three years minimum experience as a production planner/Master Scheduler in a design and manufacturing environment. KEY RESPONSIBILITES: Oversee Production Processes: Manage the overall manufacturing operations to ensure optimized production and adherence to quality standards. Team Management: Supervise and direct technical personnel involved in every stage of production, ensuring effective performance and compliance with safety policies. Resource Management: Ensure the availability of necessary materials, equipment, and labor resources for production projects. This includes selecting and procuring raw materials and negotiating with suppliers. Budgeting and Cost Estimates: Prepare cost estimates and budgets for manufacturing proposals, ensuring cost-effective production. Developing and overseeing operational budgets and managing Profit and Loss (P&L). Quality Control: Monitor production to ensure compliance with established quality control specifications and standards, conducting inspections as necessary. Collaboration: Liaise with other departmental heads, such as quality assurance and packaging, to ensure finished products meet quality expectations. Additionally, conduct regular site visits to monitor performance, provide coaching, and foster a positive work environment. Continuous Improvement: Analyze operational data to identify trends, opportunities for improvement, and implement corrective actions promptly. Implement action plans to enhance production efficiency and quality, motivating the manufacturing team to achieve set objectives and targets. Strategic Planning: Translate corporate goals into actionable KPIs and monitor progress. Develop and implement operational strategies aligned with company goals to maximize productivity and customer satisfaction Compliance & Risk: Maintain full compliance with environmental and regulatory obligations, safeguard proprietary information under company policy, and uphold the company’s professional image in all external relations. Reporting: Deliver accurate operational reports and actionable insights to Executive Management. DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: · Manage the overall manufacturing operations to ensure optimized production and adherence to quality standards. · Plans and coordinates short and long term manpower needs to support division goals. · Develops and implements Manufacturing Engineering goals and action plans to meet Division strategic objectives including Safety, Machine Productivity, Machine Capability, Scrap and Rework, and Labor Content. · Develops site capital plans to support division objectives. · Develops site facility plans in regards to new processes and equipment to meet divisions objectives. · Establish standard work, SOPs, work instructions, and workflows · Implement appropriate ERP / MES systems for production planning, scheduling, data collection, traceability · Collaborate with supply chain to optimize inventory levels, work-in-process (WIP) and manage program material requirements · Develop, monitor, and ensure achievement of key operational metrics (KPIs): throughput, yield, on-time delivery, cost per unit, scrap/waste, equipment utilization, etc. · Oversee daily factory operations: production, maintenance, quality assurance, materials handling, and continuous improvement. · Serve as the primary operations liaison with internal stakeholders (engineering, product, quality, finance) and with external partners (vendors, contractors) · Implement Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, TPM, 5S, SMED, etc., to drive efficiency, reduce waste and improve quality MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Bachelor's degree in business management, finance, operations management, engineering/technology, with 15 years of experience in a related field. 2. 15 years of minimum experience in production control or production management in an aerospace manufacturing environment. 3. Experience in supply chain management. 4. Experience in implementing and utilizing an ERP system or another method of manufacturing and resource planning. 5. Lease Six Sigma Black Belt. 6. 10 years minimum of shop floor management and operations experience; scheduling; ownership of productivity, machine utilization, and machine scheduling alongside manufacturing team leaders. 7. 15 years in program/project management. 8. Working knowledge of AS9100 9. Office: word, excel, PowerPoint 10. Strong people leadership—building teams, coaching, training. 11. Ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence without direct authority. 12. Strong analytical skills; ability to use metrics to drive decision making. 13. Strong project management skills; experience managing large capital projects 14. The noise level is usually high due to industrial machines. This position requires frequent walking, frequent standing, frequent lifting, frequent typing, frequent use of a computer screen, as well as sitting at a desk.
