This position is full-time and will be based out of Oak Ridge, Tennessee.\n\nResponsibilities\n\nAbility to conduct technical research, analyze complex engineering issues, and develop effective solutions.\n\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to research, evaluate, and resolve complex technical challenges.\n\nAbility to research technical requirements, analyze engineering data, and develop practical, technically sound solutions.\n\nAbility to independently evaluate complex technical issues, identify potential solutions, and provide well-supported engineering recommendations.\n\nAptitude with demonstrated capabilities in research, analysis, troubleshooting, and engineering problem resolution.\n\nRequirements\n\nEducation & Years of Experience – Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering with Industrial Power background and 5+ years of relevant experience.\n\nCitizenship – To be considered, you must be a United States (U.S.) citizen due to the federal nature of the work.\n\nClearance – To be considered, you must be able to obtain and maintain a government issued clearance, if needed.\n\nExperience performing electrical system design, design reviews, and design recovery for existing facilities and new construction projects.\n\nStrong experience with industrial electrical power distribution systems, including mainline primary power.\n\nExperience designing facility and building electrical systems rated 480V and below.\n\nAbility to address electrical engineering problems of varying scope and technical complexity.\n\nExperience conducting field walkdowns/site evaluations to document existing electrical system configurations and field conditions.\n\nAbility to perform design recovery and engineering evaluations of existing electrical systems.\n\nProficiency in performing electrical engineering calculations to support system design and modification.\n\nExperience developing technical specifications, design documentation, and engineering reports.\n\nAbility to develop and review electrical drawings, technical details, and design packages.\n\nExperience researching vendor information, equipment specifications, technical references, and existing system data.\n\nKnowledge of electrical equipment selection and application for industrial and facility power systems.\n\nAbility to perform constructability and operability reviews of electrical designs.\n\nUnderstanding of maintenance, inspection, accessibility, and lifecycle considerations when developing electrical system designs.\n\nAbility to evaluate existing electrical infrastructure and develop appropriate modifications, upgrades, or replacement designs.\n\nKnowledge of applicable electrical codes, standards, and industry design practices, including NFPA 70/National Electrical Code (NEC).\n\nAbility to coordinate technical issues with subject matter experts, engineers, designers, operations, maintenance, and construction personnel.\n\nAbility to independently develop high-quality, technically accurate, and constructible electrical design solutions for industrial facility applications.\n\nDesired Skills\n\nStrong technical writing and documentation skills.\n\nStrong written and verbal communication skills.\n\nStrong technical research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.\n\nAbout the Site\n\nThe NNSA's Y-12 National Security Complex, in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, is the nation’s only source of enriched uranium nuclear weapon components and provides enriched uranium for the U.S. Navy as well as excels in materials science, precision manufacturing, and stores enriched uranium.
