We focus on increasing shelter access for unhoused pet owners by supporting human shelters with pet programs. Pets offer their humans a sense of responsibility and purpose. So, they have a major impact on decision-making.\n\nOne Pals N Pets program participant, Rachel, was a person struggling with drug addiction. When a pet came into her life, she considered the consequences of her addiction. She has significantly decreased her drug use and started spending that money on caring for her furry friend. So, we have designed an online and in person course to provide more access to our Pet Education program! This course will help people experiencing homelessness learn how to care for their pets effectively. The course also teaches what it means to be a good neighbor.\n\n*PalsNPets Temporary Contract Program Assistant ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES*\n\nProgram Assistant work predominantly in interim housing shelters with some remote administrative tasks. The objective is to educate shelter residents on pet care and coordinate access to veterinarian services. The work consists of:\n\n*RESPONSIBILITIES*\n\n● Conducting and assisting an in-person and online pet curriculum at each shelter. ● Comfortable with being creative and thinking on the spot-on new ways to offer our education and vet support. Each shelter and each day are different. ● Cultivates new partnerships with nonprofit and private local veterinarians. ● Coordinating and schedule vet services for your shelter sites. ● Assist with data collection on research, partnerships, residents, volunteer information and hours, pet information, program services and any other added data collection and documentation related to programs.\n\n● Collaborate and coordinate volunteers for each of your shelters. ● Assist in researching and developing new volunteer engagement at each shelter. ● Assist with volunteer onboarding and training\n\n● Weekly PalsNPets meetings ● Assist in revising, improving, and developing programs and coordinating services. ● Assist in website, social media and fundraising pertaining to programs which may include, documenting onsite stories, photo & video taking and other responsibilities that can be used to assist on these platforms to present our onsite programs.\n\n* Assist with Pet supply pick up at location, and may need to store some in own vehicle for the week.\n* This position consist of driving to a different shelter location throughout Los Angeles each day.\n\n● Assist in fundraising events, developments. ● End of month reporting on shelters\n\n*Skills & Experience* _To perform effectively in this position, the incumbent is required to have:_Outstanding Interpersonal and Communication Skills: Expresses ideas and facts in a clear and understandable manner appropriate for the individual or group; listens to and comprehends what others are saying; prepares organized and structured presentations; has demonstrated ability to work with a wide range of sensitive and confidential issues and communicate effectively with a diverse group of adults, volunteers, and staff.\n\n_Project Management: _Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple projects while managing conflicting priorities and deadlines, formulate short- and long-term project goals, objectives, and schedules; anticipate issues, obstacles, or opportunities that may impact plans or actions; establish courses of action for accomplishing goals while attending to and incorporating information obtained during day-to-day administrative tasks.\n\n_Excellent independent decision-making skills and strong resourcefulness: _Proven record of functioning as a self-starter who can work independently with minimal oversight and take initiative; demonstrated flexibility, adaptability, self-management, and organization.
