Sheet Metal Worker

GTI Fabrication is looking for a * Sheet Metal Worker * to add to our team! Job Summary: The Sheet Metal Worker will fabricate, build, and install various types of metal structures and equipment for facility maintenance and installation programs. Fabricate, assemble, install, and repair sheets metal products, and equipment, such as ducts, control boxes, drainpipes, and furnace casings. Work may involve any of the following: setting up and operating fabricating machines to cut, bend, and straighten sheet metal; shaping metal over anvils, blocks, or forms using a hammer; operating soldering and welding equipment to join sheet metal parts; or inspecting, assembling, and smoothing seams and joints of burred surfaces. Includes sheet metal duct installers who install prefabricated sheet metal ducts used for heating, air conditioning, or other purposes. Duties/Responsibilities: Consults blueprints, work orders, and/or schematics to safely construct specified structures; develops additional sketches if needed. Selects appropriate material for each job based on the desired or necessary strength. Cuts bends, and shapes sheet metal to required dimensions. Measures, cuts, and welds pieces together according to specifications, blueprints, or directions. Connects pieces or secures seams by riveting, rolling, soldering, or using steel screws. Performs assigned work on assembly lines such as punching holes for screws or bending gutters. Uses appropriate machinery and software applications to complete assigned jobs. Coordinates required shutdowns and startups of equipment with other departments after sheet metal installation. Develops and maintains records for projects and repairs. Maintains clean and orderly workspace. Performs other related duties as assigned. Required Skills/Abilities: Ability to complete sheet metal projects with accuracy and precision. Ability to safely use machinery and tools involved in sheet metal work. Ability to follow directions. Ability to read blueprints and schematics to understand product assignments. Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent required. Successful completion of an apprenticeship or a three-year, in-company training program is required. Certification preferred. Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods of lifting, reaching and working on scaffolding and overhead structures. GTI also possesses the necessary skills and equipment to work with other metals such as aluminum, stainless, and titanium. GTI has several weld procedures certified to AWS standards and can perform a plethora of tests to comply with customer requirements.”
