We are now building the next generation of space- and airborne-based sensing systems.\n\nAbout the Role\n\nMatter is hiring a Structural Analyst to evaluate and improve the structural performance of sensing payloads and supporting hardware for airborne and space environments. The role will work closely with mechanical, optomechanical, systems, and test engineers from early design through qualification.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nPerform structural analyses that inform payload and component design decisions.\n\nEvaluate expected loads, stiffness, margins, and dynamic behavior across relevant operating and test environments.\n\nPartner with designers and engineers to identify structural risks and recommend practical design changes.\n\nSupport test planning, instrumentation, data review, and correlation between analysis and observed performance.\n\nDocument assumptions, methods, results, and design margins for technical reviews and program decisions.\n\nQualifications\nRequired\n\nStrong foundation in structural mechanics and engineering analysis.\n\nExperience applying analysis methods to real hardware and interpreting results for design teams.\n\nAbility to communicate assumptions, uncertainty, and design implications clearly.\n\nCollaborative approach to working across mechanical, systems, manufacturing, and test functions.\n\nPreferred\n\nExperience with aerospace, precision instrumentation, optical payloads, or other high-performance hardware.\n\nExperience correlating analytical models with environmental or qualification test data.\n\nFamiliarity with lightweight structures, dynamic environments, and tight alignment requirements.\n\nWhat Success Looks Like\n\nStructural risks and margins are understood early enough to guide design decisions.\n\nAnalyses are traceable, reviewable, and aligned with test and qualification plans.\n\nThe team enters integration and test with confidence in the structural design and its operating limits.\n\nLocation\n\nThis role is based in El Segundo, CA, and requires onsite work.\n\nITAR Requirements\n\nTo comply with U.S. export regulations, applicants must be one of the following:\n\nA U.S. citizen or national\n\nA lawful permanent resident (green card holder)\n\nEligible to obtain required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State\n\nEmployee Offerings and Benefits\n\nAt Matter, we believe in rewarding high performance and providing the support you need to thrive.
