Activity Coordinators are responsible for leading students on excursions, conducting walking and bus tours of sights, interacting with and engaging with students on campus and on excursions by conducting activities, participating in on-campus activities, and assisting with group check-ins and check-outs. Activity Coordinators work under the direct supervision of the Activity Manager. Full room and board is provided for the duration of employment. The majority of Activity Coordinators work for 4-6 weeks.\nThis position requires irregular and significant working hours that fluctuate to meet the demands of a dynamic workday. No day is the same, and sometimes no hour is the same.\nThis is a high-intensity, high-fun position. You will have the opportunity to explore and enjoy the sights in the location you are working in, AND you will be expected to fulfill your duties to contribute to the success of the program.\nYou will have one full day off per calendar week (Monday - Sunday for each week where you work a full week) and will have other blocks of free time based on the specific needs of your campus each day.\nPeak student enrollment takes place during approximately the last two weeks in July. It is highly likely that your employment period will include this timeframe.\nActivity Coordinators are expected to work a flexible schedule. Night and weekend work is expected to meet the demands of the program and no vacation time can be honored during the peak employment period for this position.\nTravel:\nRegional travel is required. Travel to excursion destinations and any work travel during the employment period will be provided and covered by PLUS.\nResidential employees are responsible for all travel costs to and from campus location prior to and at the conclusion of their employment period. Any costs related to parking may not be included.\nCompensation:\nWages are between $1,250 - $1,290 per week\nHousing for duration of the employment period\nMeals (full board) for the duration of the employment period\nSpecific Duties and Responsibilities:\nThe following is expected of Activity Coordinators:\nStandard Expectations\nYou will be responsible for understanding, adhering to, and enforcing all PLUS/campus policies and procedures, with tasks including but not limited to:\nInteracting with groups of international high school students and their chaperones in a professional, enthusiastic, and customer service-oriented manner\nEnsuring the safety of all participants and practicing appropriate emergency preparedness and response under PLUS protocols\nAssisting in duties other than the aforementioned and the following, as assigned and as they arise\nOff-Campus Activities (Excursions)\nYou will lead students and their chaperones on engaging tours of local sights and landmarks, with tasks including but not limited to:\nKnowledgeably delivering relevant information (as provided by PLUS) about each landmark\nConducting walking and bus tours with confidence in the route\nEnsuring student safety at all times, including in transit and at tourist sites\nAssisting in coordinating logistics for excursions including communicating with bus drivers, facilitating hotel check-ins, etc.\nPlaying games and entertaining students while on excursions, especially if there is an unforeseen delay\nPreparing for and responding appropriately to emergencies, including being on night duty and on-call on a rotating basis during overnight excursions at hotels\nOn-Campus Activities\nYou will help organize and deliver activities for students and their chaperones, with tasks including but not limited to:\nAttending and participating in all of the following activities: orientation and welcome activities, talent shows, graduation ceremonies - this means being ready to perform at the talent shows!\nEncouraging student participation in on-campus events\nSetting up, leading, and tearing down other recreational activities including disco, game nights, movie nights, etc.\nOrganizing and supervising sporting activities including field games, soccer tournaments, basketball games, etc.\nStudent Engagement & Wellbeing\nYou will spend the majority of your time interacting with students and their chaperones, with tasks including but not limited to:\nResponding appropriately to students' and chaperones' concerns in a professional, enthusiastic, and customer-service oriented manner\nEngaging with students as much as possible to help them improve their conversational English skills\nEncouraging student participation and involvement during on- and off-campus activities\nEating and conversing with PLUS participants during meal times\nSupervising students in the residence halls, dining hall, activity spaces, and off-campus locations\nParticipating in night duty (including conducting rounds of the residence halls and responding to emergency calls) on a rotating basis\nOffice, Campus, & Miscellaneous\nYou will be responsible for supporting the logistical and organizational needs of the campus, with tasks including but not limited to:\nAttending daily staff meetings\nAssisting in administrative tasks as assigned by the management team\nCapturing photo and video content of participants for the purposes of social media\nIf applicable, using the company card appropriately and tracking all spending\nSupervising Summer Counselors\nAssisting in arrival, departure, and changeover procedures including check-in/check-out procedures, room checks, airport pickups, etc.\nKnowledgeably guiding students to campus locations and resources as needed\nAssisting the management team as necessary and as requested\nAssignment of a specific and possibly rotating coordination responsibility (ie. Events Coordinator, Social Media Coordinator, Excursions Coordinator, etc.) may be assigned in addition to standard Activity Coordinator responsibilities\nQualifications and Desired Skills:\nAuthorization to work in the U.S. required\nMust be 18 years or older\nHigh school diploma required\nPrevious summer camp experience or work with minors preferred\nPrevious international experience preferred\nPrevious customer service experience strongly preferred\nExperience with at least one rotating coordinator responsibility strongly preferred\nAthletic, musical, theatrical, and/or artistic talent and enthusiasm strongly preferred\nPublic speaking/MC experience preferred\nA cover letter explaining why you are a good fit for this position strongly preferred\nThe successful candidates will be able to work individually and as a member of a team and have strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
