Business Development Manager
The ideal candidate will be located in close proximity to the Huntsville, AL region, however, geographically flexible.
The Business Development Manager - Missile Transport Systems is responsible for sustainment/growth of existing customers, while also driving growth thru new business development efforts in support of Missile Transport Systems focusing on heavy load, specialized unique transport systems for the Air Force, Army, Missile Defense Agency and OEM's alike. A key focus area for growth will be Golden Dome. This role will be expected to drive growth through leveraging current products/services and new products /services and is fully responsible for leading all aspects of capture.
Essential Duties
Manages a portfolio of Government and OEM accounts for companies doing business with HDT.
Develops and conducts the evaluation plus implementation of new initiatives and business opportunities for the Company under direction of the VP/GM, Missile Transport Systems
Provides strategic and tactical input to company executives by evaluating new initiatives and business opportunities
Conducts market analysis and competitive assessments in the development of strategic business winning campaigns
Implement capture strategies aligned with long term, sustainable growth that aligns with customer needs and sector capabilities
Manages cross functional teams and influences the preparation of proposals, business plans, proposal work statements and specifications, operating budgets and financial terms/conditions of contract(s)
Responsible for working across functional areas and with Program Managers, Legal, Contracts, Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Operations and Inside Sales
Responsible for marketing the company and its products, providing quotes to OEMs, negotiating contract pricing, closing sales and monitoring execution
Responsible for understanding customer requirements and how HDT can best meet those requirements including new or derivative product development within HDT's core competencies
Travel to attend tradeshows, industry day events, and meetings at both OEM account and HDT manufacturing facilities
Supports, communicates, reinforces and defends the mission, values and culture of the organization
Adheres to all quality and safety standards and expect reports to do likewise
Supports other projects and performs duties as assigned

Education/Experience/Other Skills & Abilities:
Bachelor's of Science in Marketing, Business Administration or related discipline. MBA preferred
Minimum 8 years of Business Development, Engineering. Sales or relevant equivalent experience required
Experience in DoD acquisition process required
Prior US military service is a plus
Ability to develop/create proposals, RFQs, non-disclosure agreements and teaming agreements
Experience in business operations including but not limited to bookings, revenue and annual operating plans
Sales and business development experience with major defense contractors
Experience building and managing a robust new business pipeline from opportunity identification through the entire capture management process, which includes proposal development and successful negotiations
Familiarity with company products, markets and technologies
Excellent communication skills; able to communicate effectively with management and personnel at all levels, customers and potential customers, and government representatives
Strong analytical and financial skills
Customer focused
Must be able to work on a self-initiated basis and in a team environment
Knowledge of manufacturing operations is a plus
Able to work extended hours
Travel as required
Possesses Quality orientation and high attention to detail
Possesses strong computer skills with demonstrated proficiency in standard business software packages (e.g., Microsoft Office)
SAP and/or Salesforce.com experience is a plus
