This role independently analyzes requirements, evaluates alternative program designs, solves complex programming problems, and develops efficient solutions using knowledge of system software, computer equipment, and applicable processes. Responsibilities include designing and integrating files and records, developing programming specifications, testing and documenting programs, and supporting the resolution of technical issues. The Programmer may also assist users in defining requirements, contribute to larger projects as a team member, and provide guidance to lower-level programmers or technicians.\n\nKey Responsibilities:\n\nInvestigate program feasibility and requirements; develop programming specifications and recommend program redesigns.\nDevelop, modify, maintain, test, document, and prepare operating instructions for complex programs.\nDesign and implement file and record relationships that integrate effectively into the project’s overall system design.\nDevelop solutions for major scientific computational problems requiring logical or mathematical function descriptions.\nAnalyze alternative program-design approaches to balance user needs, future modification, and resource conservation.\nWork with users and technical personnel to define needs, resolve issues, coordinate work, and support maintenance or new-development efforts.\nWork independently under overall objectives and direction and may serve as a team lead or supervise lower-level technical personnel.\n\nQualifications:\n\nEducation: Bachelors degree in an engineering discipline required, Master’s-level degree in an engineering discipline preferred\nExperience: 5-8 years of professional experience in computer programming\nClearance Requirement: Secret\nRequired Skills:\nDemonstrated expertise in programming procedures for complex programs.\nKnowledge of applicable system software, computer equipment, work processes, regulations, and management practices.\nAbility to independently solve difficult programming problems and support multi-user or complex technical systems.\nAbility to analyze programming requirements, evaluate alternative design approaches, and develop effective technical solutions.\nExperience developing, modifying, testing, documenting, and maintaining complex programs.\nAbility to work collaboratively with users and other technical personnel to define requirements, troubleshoot issues, and support project objectives.\n\nWork Environment/Physical Requirements:\n\nOffice environment with occasional on-site work in data centers or with hardware systems.\nMay require after-hours or weekend work to address critical system issues or deployments.\nSome travel may be necessary to support system installations or meet with stakeholders.\nAbility to work at a desk and operate a computer for extended periods.\nOccasional lifting of IT equipment or hardware components (up to 25 lbs).\n\nWork Schedule:\n\nThis is a full-time position, typically working 40 hours per week.
