Grinding Machine Operator
Job Summary
As a Machine Operator, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining various types of machinery to ensure the production process runs smoothly and efficiently.
Actual Job Duties – Essential Duties and Responsibilities Include:
· Set up and operate CNC and/or manual grinding machines, to machine parts according to b/p specifications, tooling instructions, and route sheet traveler.
· Read and interpret engineering specifications and shop orders to determine machine setup, production methods, and sequence of operation.
· Applies knowledge of grinding/machining methods: Follow route sheet travelers to hold dimensions and tolerances
· Review Job Traveler to analyze all required steps to ensure all production procedures are followed.
· Move controls and position tool and workpiece in relation to each other for necessary grinding.
· Inspect workpiece for quality assurance and verify conformance to specifications using measuring instruments, such as fixed gauges, calipers, and micrometers.
· Maintain job site cleanliness and a safe work area for organization through all phases of the process.
· Represent company with professionalism.
· Maintenance duties as directed.
· Other duties as required.
Qualifications / Education and/or Experience:
· Previous experience in operating machinery is preferred or great attitude with willingness to learn
· To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to operate heavy machinery and have strong attention to detail.
· Basic understanding of electronics and programmable controllers or willingness to learn
· 3 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience; or good attitude and willingness to learn
Language / Mathematical Skills:
· Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, good manufacturing practices, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
· Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees of organization.
· Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Read & interpret Blueprints and understand GD&T symbols.
Physical Demands:
· While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms.
· The employee frequently is required to talk or hear.
· The employee must frequently push 5 to 40 pound boxes on a trolley or cart.
· May infrequently lift a box or parts.
· Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:
· Safety glasses should always be worn while inside the work facility.
