Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.\nWhat you’ll do:\nPrimary Function\n\nThe Engineering Manager, Embedded Linux Platforms, is responsible for leading the execution and delivery of embedded Linux-based platform capabilities supporting Eaton’s product portfolio. This role ensures high-quality, timely delivery aligned with new product introduction (NPI) and sustaining engineering programs.\n\nThe position provides day-to-day leadership across globally distributed engineering teams, driving execution against defined scope, schedule, and quality targets while supporting platform stability, scalability, and reuse. In collaboration with product engineering, program management, and systems teams, this role ensures Linux platform capabilities are effectively developed and integrated into end solutions.\n\nSuccess in this role is measured by consistent delivery performance, platform quality, and the ability to improve team execution through strong engineering practices, coordination, and proactive issue resolution.\n\nEssential Functions\n\nLead execution and delivery of embedded Linux platform commitments across NPI and sustaining programs, ensuring performance against schedule, cost, quality, and risk targets\nDrive day-to-day team activities including sprint planning, backlog management, milestone tracking, and issue resolution\nCollaborate with product engineering, program management, and systems teams to ensure alignment of platform capabilities with program needs\nApply and reinforce disciplined engineering processes, including Agile methodologies, release planning, and defect management\nEnsure effective integration, validation, and release of Linux platform software across hardware and application layers\nTrack and communicate key execution metrics such as velocity, defect trends, and milestone progress to support data-driven decisions\nIdentify and address execution challenges and bottlenecks, improving team throughput and delivery predictability\nCoordinate dependencies within the Linux platform and with adjacent teams (applications, hardware, infrastructure) as needed\nSupport development infrastructure including CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and release processes\nWork with leadership to support capacity planning and resource prioritization aligned with program needs\nEscalate risks and issues appropriately, ensuring timely resolution and stakeholder visibility\nPromote a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement within the team\nQualifications:\nBasic qualifications\n\nBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Software Engineering\n5 years of experience in embedded software development or delivery\n3 years of experience leading or coordinating engineering teams\n2 years of experience delivering software using Agile development methodologies\n3 years of experience with embedded Linux-based systems\n1 years of experience with CI/CD processes, version control systems, and release practices\nNo relocation is offered for this position. All candidates must currently reside within 50 miles of Beachwood, OH: Moon Township, PA: or Raleigh NC.\nCandidate must be authorized to work in the United States on a continuous basis without company sponsorship.\n\nPreferred qualifications\n\nExperience delivering reusable platform-based software solutions\nExperience working with globally distributed engineering teams\nFamiliarity with embedded Linux build systems (e.g., Yocto, Buildroot)\nExperience supporting NPI programs in industrial or IoT domains\nExperience improving engineering execution through metrics and process optimization\nExperience managing cross-functional dependencies\nSkills:\nSoft Skills\n\nTeamwork, communication, strong interpersonal skills across cultural and organizational boundaries.\nExceptional verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively explain complex technical concepts to a wide variety of audiences, high learning agility, and great follow-through in meeting commitments.\nAbility to communicate and influence multiple groups including marketing, product management, quality, and executive leadership.\nStrong problem solving and reasoning ability, exhibiting technical innovation and creative solutions.\nSharp analytical abilities and proven design skills.\nGood judgment, time management, and decision-making skills\n\nAll positions may require participation in video and in-person interviews as part of the hiring process.
