Safety TechnicianAt GeoStabilization International (GSI), safety is not a checklist—it is a leadership behavior and a strategic differentiator. As a Safety Technician, you will play a mission-critical role in embedding a culture of operational discipline, ownership, and high-performance execution.This role is not just about compliance; it is about enabling our crews to deliver elite results in high-risk, high-complexity environments—safely, repeatedly, and at scale. We are looking for a safety partner who brings more than technical knowledge; we need a relationship-builder who can adapt standards to the unique demands of geohazard mitigation and foster a deep-rooted safety culture across the Western US. This role will be based out of San Louis Obisbo, California and will require travel 50% of the time.ResponsibilitiesCollaborate with field operations to proactively identify and mitigate risks on complex, high-exposure job sites.Lead field-level training and "in-the-trenches" coaching tailored to specific terrain, project exposure, and team maturity.Conduct rigorous root-cause analyses of safety incidents; drive organizational learning and policy adjustments based on real-world field input.Serve as the bridge between field crews, safety leadership, and clients to ensure standards are upheld and safety solutions are adopted.Facilitate formal crew-level training, work toward becoming a certified OSHA Trainer, and present at internal company-wide meetings.Own regional project scheduling and contribute to the development of Health and Safety Plans (HASP) and project startup protocols.Build subject matter expertise in Worker's Compensation, Owner-specific compliance, and CPR/First Aid (Instructor-level).Qualifications4+ years of dedicated safety experience, specifically within construction or heavy industrial sectors.Working knowledge of OSHA, MSHA, or relevant industrial safety and operational standards.Proficient in Microsoft Office, SmartSheet, and Box; comfortable navigating digital reporting tools.Valid Driver's License required.CHST, ASP, or CSP preferred (or a clear path/commitment to obtain these within 12 months).Top 10% Candidate SignalsYou have built or rebuilt safety programs that resulted in measurable incident reduction.You have thrived in military, industrial, or remote construction settings with a zero-margin-for-error environment.You are a CPR/First Aid instructor or a seasoned safety trainer with a track record of influencing behavior.You have a history of turning low-performing sites into high-compliance, elite environments.Physical & Travel RequirementsThis is a field-based role; you will spend significantly more time with crews than behind a desk.Ability to travel 50% or more, including occasional short-notice deployments.Capable of lifting 60 lbs and traversing active, rugged job sites in all weather conditions.GeoStabilization International, LLC. is an equal opportunity employer, and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, pregnancy, age, national origin, disability status, genetic information, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.The expected base pay range for this position is $89,400–$110,000. Salary ranges are dependent on a variety of factors, including qualifications, experience and geographic location. Range is not inclusive of potential bonus or benefits.
