Ideal candidates will have strong knowledge of roadway construction, DOT procedures, HCSS estimating software, and proven experience with paving, grading, and asphalt operations.\n\nKey Responsibilities:\n\nReview plans, specifications, and contract documents to determine project scope and requirements for highway, road, and asphalt projects.\nPerform detailed quantity takeoffs for earthwork, grading, paving, asphalt, drainage, and related items using HCSS or similar estimating tools.\nDevelop comprehensive cost estimates including labor, equipment, materials, subcontractor pricing, and overhead for accurate bid submission.\nPrepare bid packages, takeoff sheets, and estimate summaries; ensure compliance with DOT and owner requirements.\nCoordinate with project managers, superintendents, suppliers, and subcontractors to obtain pricing and clarify scope.\nAnalyze historical project costs and production rates to inform unit pricing and contingency allowances.\nIdentify project risks and develop mitigation strategies; include clear allowances for unknowns in estimates.\nMaintain and update cost databases, unit price books, and estimating templates to improve estimating efficiency and accuracy.\nParticipate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and constructability reviews to validate assumptions and identify cost-saving opportunities.\nSupport post-bid activities including bid clarifications, value engineering, and transition of awarded projects to operations.\n\nQualifications:\n\n5+ years of estimating experience in heavy civil construction with emphasis on highways, roads, and asphalt/paving projects.\nProficiency with HCSS HeavyBid or similar estimating software and familiarity with industry takeoff tools.\nStrong understanding of DOT specifications, pay items, and contract requirements.\nDemonstrated capability in quantity takeoffs for grading, asphalt, drainage, and earthwork.\nKnowledge of construction means and methods, production rates, equipment utilization, and cost drivers for paving operations.\nExcellent analytical, mathematical, and communication skills with attention to detail and ability to meet tight bid deadlines.\nAbility to read and interpret civil/structural plans, specifications, and survey information.\nValid driver's license and willingness to attend site visits and pre-bid meetings as required.\n\nBenefits\n\nMedical\nVision\nDental\n401(K)\nBonus\nAnd More!\n- For this position, you must be currently authorized to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship for a non-immigrant visa.
