Success in this role means running a clean, compliant, and high-performing dock, delivering reliable service outcomes, and contributing directly to terminal profitability and network efficiency.\nWhat you’ll do\n1. Execute dock and terminal operations with precision\nOversee daily dock operations including load planning, freight handling, and linehaul coordination\nEnsure freight is processed accurately with proper routing, documentation, and data entry\nMaintain high standards for load quality, minimizing damages, OS&D incidents, and rehandling\nStep into operational roles—including forklift operations—when needed to maintain continuity\n2. Optimize service center performance and cost control\nMonitor daily operating costs and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and margin performance\nSupport budget attainment through effective labor utilization, contractor coordination, and workflow management\nEnsure billing, rating, payroll, and administrative processes are completed accurately and on time\n3. Drive safety, compliance, and risk management\nMaintain a safe and compliant work environment aligned with DOT, OSHA, and hazardous materials standards\nSupport contractor compliance including equipment standards, qualification requirements, and operational procedures\nEnforce freight security protocols and ensure adherence to company and regulatory policies\n4. Lead and develop frontline teams\nSupervise, coach, and direct service center personnel with clear expectations and accountability\nProvide real-time feedback, performance management, and development support\nFoster a culture of ownership, teamwork, and operational excellence through visible leadership\n5. Coordinate across network stakeholders\nPartner with linehaul contractors, drivers, and internal teams to ensure seamless freight movement\nCommunicate effectively with corporate teams, customers, and external partners\nResolve operational issues quickly, applying sound judgment in dynamic, variable conditions\nWhat you bring\nBachelor’s degree or 1–2 years of relevant operations or logistics experience (or equivalent combination)\nExperience in transportation, LTL, warehouse, or service center operations preferred\nDemonstrated ability to supervise, train, and evaluate team members\nStrong working knowledge of safety protocols, compliance standards, and hazardous materials handling (Hazmat certification preferred)\nForklift certification (or ability to obtain)\nSolid analytical and mathematical skills with the ability to interpret operational and financial data\nProficiency in PC applications (email, spreadsheets, database systems); AS/400 experience preferred\nEffective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage across all levels of the organization\nProven ability to prioritize, delegate, and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment\nStrong problem-solving capability in situations with limited standardization\nHow you operate\nYou think in systems, not tasks—understanding how decisions impact network performance\nYou own outcomes, not activity—delivering measurable results under pressure\nYou move decisively while maintaining control and operational discipline\nYou lead from the front—modeling accountability, work ethic, and safety standards\nYou communicate clearly—ensuring alignment across teams, contractors, and stakeholders\nYou balance speed and accuracy—protecting both service and profitability\nYou adapt quickly—navigating ambiguity and shifting priorities with confidence\nAbout Roadrunner\nWe’re not just moving freight; we’re reimagining long-haul shipping.
