Maintenance Group Lead - B Shift
The Maintenance Group Lead will be a key member of the Operations team at Pennant, with focus on troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing electrical, automation, mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic equipment failures or malfunctions promptly to minimize production interruptions. This role will conduct preventative maintenance activities while collaborating with the maintenance team to develop and implement maintenance plans and procedures for improved equipment performance and reliability.Required CompetenciesTroubleshoot, diagnose, and repair electrical, automation, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment failures, or malfunctions promptly to minimize production interruptionsPerform routine inspections and maintenance tasks on industrial machinery, including but not limited to rotary machines, conveyor systems, motors, pumps, hydraulic systems, and other production equipment in a timely manner to identify potential issues, defects, or malfunctionsOperation, troubleshoot, and repair of boiler systemsConduct regular preventive maintenance activities according to a predefined schedule to ensure equipment reliability and minimize downtimeUtilize diagnostic tools, equipment manuals, blueprints, and technical resources to troubleshoot, identify and resolve equipment issues efficientlyCollaborate with the maintenance team to develop and implement maintenance plans and procedures for improved equipment performance and reliabilityMaintain accurate records of equipment maintenance activities, including work orders, repairs, and parts inventory, using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS)Utilize SAP for completing Purchase requisitionsFollow safety protocols and adhere to all relevant regulations while performing maintenance activities to ensure a safe working environment, while maintaining a clean and organized work areaCoordinate with other team members, equipment vendors and external contractors for specialized repairs or technical assistance as neededAssist in the installation and commissioning of new machinery and equipmentIdentify opportunities for equipment upgrades or improvements to enhance efficiency and productivityTrain and assist operators in equipment maintenance procedures and troubleshooting techniquesObserve employees in assigned areas and monitor performance in relation to set goals, policies and procedures and report any deviations to ManagerMonitor operations and apply known policies/procedures relevant to the assigned area and notify Manager of any deficiencies or variancesAssist with training/mentoring team members and advise Manager if there are delays or concerns in training new team membersMotivate team to execute tasks with high efficiency and ensure work is completed on time, properlyHold weekly team meetings on maintenance objectives.Required Education / ExperienceAt least 5+ years of hand-on mechanical maintenance experienceH.S. Diploma, GED, or equivalent; Technical certification or vocational training in industrial maintenance, electrical or mechanical engineering, or a related field is preferredProven experience as an Industrial Maintenance Technician or similar role in an industrial or manufacturing settingStrong knowledge of electrical circuits, automation (PLC), VFDs (inverters and drives), mechanical systems, hydraulics, and pneumaticsKnowledge of air compressors and filtration systems is helpful.Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical manuals, schematics, and blueprintsProficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and precision instrumentsAbility to perform maintenance, repair of property and production line equipment.Solid understanding of preventive maintenance principles and practicesStainless Steel and Sanitary Welding skills is a plusFabrication, pneumatics and hydraulic skills for equipment repair is helpful.Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex equipment issues and find practical solutionsFamiliarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) for recording and tracking maintenance activitiesAbility to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating strong communication and interpersonal skillsStrong commitment to safety and knowledge of safety regulations and procedures in an industrial environmentFlexibility to work rotating shifts, weekends, and overtime as needed to support production schedules and respond to emergenciesMust be comfortable working at elevated heights; able to lift up to 50lbsBoiler Experience – NYS Boiler License is a plusPHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENTOvertime hours may be required based on work demand. Employee must be flexible with these hours.While performing the duties of this job, the employee at times can be exposed to flour/sugar dust particles. The dust levels in the work environment can sometimes be elevated. If needed, proper PPE is provided.Noise levels in some plant locations are loud. The employee may spend 75% or more of their work hours on the plant floor.While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to bend, stoop, walk and lift throughout the shift.GMPs require hair nets, beard nets to be worn on production areas. Uniforms and safety shoes will be provided along with any other specific required PPE.CompensationHourly compensation for this position is based on skills and experience, ranging from $38.00 - $45.00
