Day Shift - 8am - 4:30pmPosition DescriptionThe 5S Facilitator is a temporary, site-based role responsible for leading the end-to-end implementation of the 5S methodology across the facility. The site currently does not have a formal 5S system in place and is targeting a full, structured 5S implementation within a six-month timeline, followed by focused stabilization, sustainment, and capability transfer. This role will lead 5S Kaizen events, execute the site rollout plan, and embed 5S standards in alignment with the Operational Excellence framework, working closely with the Operational Excellence Coach, site leadership, and operations teams. A key responsibility of the role is to prepare and transition long-term ownership of 5S sustainment to a designated site specialist or junior engineer before the end of the assignment.Roles Responsibilities• Lead the design and execution of a site-wide 5S rollout aligned to the Operational Excellence framework.• Drive implementation of all five pillars of 5S (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain) within a targeted six-month deployment window.• Develop and execute a detailed rollout plan by area, including sequencing, milestones, and ownership.• Ensure 5S standards are practical, visual, and integrated into daily operations.• Plan and lead 5S Kaizen events across manufacturing, warehouse, maintenance, and support areas.• Facilitate cross-functional teams during Kaizens, ensuring engagement, accountability, and timely completion of actions.• Track and report Kaizen outcomes, including improvements in safety, efficiency, visual management, and space utilization.• Train supervisors, operators, and support teams on 5S principles, standards, and expectations.• Coach leaders on sustaining 5S through leader standard work, Gemba walks, and tiered accountability.• Develop and mentor a site-based specialist or junior engineer who will assume long-term ownership of 5S sustainment.• Create clear documentation, standard work, audit routines, and visual management tools to enable independent sustainment.• Execute a structured handoff plan to ensure long-term ownership is fully transitioned prior to the end of the assignment.• Establish 5S audit processes, visual scorecards, and escalation mechanisms.• Support site leadership in embedding 5S into daily management systems.• Identify sustainment risks and lead corrective actions to prevent regression during and after the transition period.• Serve as the primary site point of contact for 5S implementation.• Communicate progress, risks, and support needs to site leadership through clear, data-driven updates.• Reinforce a culture of ownership, discipline, and continuous improvement.Skills• Proven experience leading 5S implementations or Lean initiatives in a manufacturing or operations environment.• Strong facilitation skills with experience leading Kaizen events and cross-functional teams.• Working knowledge of Lean, visual management, and operational excellence systems (experience with structured frameworks preferred).• Ability to operate with urgency and structure in change-intensive environments.• Strong communication and coaching skills across all organizational levels.• Hands-on, shop-floor-oriented leadership style.
