This backend-leaning role focuses on production platforms that connect vessels with the applications used to monitor and operate them.\r\nWhat You'll DoBuild and operate cloud services that ingest, process, store, and expose sensor, detection, and operational data.\r\nDebug, refactor, and improve an existing codebase across multiple repositories as the platform scales.\r\nDevelop Python and TypeScript services and APIs that connect vessels with monitoring and operations applications.\r\nWork with application-focused teammates to provide reliable backend services for operators and downstream products.\r\nDesign data models and database systems for operational and sensor-derived data, from initial design through production rollout.\r\nDeploy, monitor, and troubleshoot AWS services, improving reliability, scalability, and observability while accounting for delayed or incomplete data.\r\nWhat We're Looking ForTypically 4 to 8 years of experience building and operating production cloud or distributed systems, with a backend, platform, or infrastructure focus.\r\nProficiency in both Python and TypeScript, plus experience designing APIs and working with databases and data models.\r\nExperience with AWS or another major cloud platform and ownership of services from design through deployment and operation.\r\nComfort working in legacy codebases across multiple repositories with limited guidance, and a bachelor's degree.\r\nExperience with streaming or real-time data, telemetry, sensor or geospatial data, IoT, robotics, autonomous vehicles, aerospace, or defense is beneficial.\r\nComfort working in the defense sector and authorization to work in the United States without employer visa sponsorship are required.\r\nCompensation & BenefitsBase salary range: $144,500 to $300,000 annually.
