Real Estate and Hospitality - Tax Senior Manager

Bennett Thrasher, a nationally recognized public accounting firm and Inside Public Accounting “Best of the Best,” is seeking experienced Seniors to join our Real Estate & Hospitality Tax team. This role focuses on complex tax compliance and consulting engagements, mentoring staff, and performing first-level reviews, while working collaboratively to deliver value to clients. Our team supports real estate businesses through economic cycles and evolving regulations by delivering practical, tailored tax and advisory solutions. As part of this team, professionals work alongside a multidisciplinary group of 50 specialists serving clients across multi-family, retail, industrial, and commercial real estate transactions.Bennett Thrasher (“BT”) has an opening for a Senior Tax Manager with our Real Estate and Hospitality Group. This individual will be working with Partners, and Managers help to lead, mentor and coach team members in various areas of tax compliance and across consulting engagements in an effort to help clients minimize tax liabilities. They are responsible for management of engagements and client communications while promoting a collaborative environment to bring value to clients.ResponsibilitiesExhibits a high level understanding of technical requirements, procedures and principles with an emphasis on book-ups under704(b) including704(c) allocations and step-ups under754Ability to review partnership agreements and advise clients on the relevant tax sections of the agreements and their corresponding tax consequences including preparation of proforma tax and 704(b) capital accounts based on the relevant waterfall or target allocations as provided for in the agreementsHas an advanced understanding of IRC sections 1445 (FIRPTA) and 1446 along with related tax forms (1042, 8804, 8805)Manages and monitors preparation and review of complex partnership, S Corporation and individual tax returns, including projections and estimate calculationsReviews and advises on technical research memorandumsResearches and reviews work papers for various book to tax differencesAbility to advise clients on the tax efficiencies of various structures including the use of domestic and foreign entitiesCollaborates with others to provide quality service to clientsEngages and leads in professional and efficient communication with clientsPromotes additional services to client when appropriateCommunicates with the IRS and other state authorities in a professional manner when applicableBuilds and maintains positive relationships across the firmEffectively delegates responsibility providing proper instructions, monitoring and coachingConducts training for associatesManages projects by scheduling associates, tracking completion and managing the budgetMaintains open communication with team regarding the progress of completion on projectsParticipates actively in training and developmental opportunities, both as an attendee and as a facilitatorManages all aspects of billing, including client inquiriesDevelops appropriate fee quotes for new tax engagementsRepresents the goals of the firm on a consistent basis internally and externallyNetworks to promote Bennett Thrasher business and bring in new clients QualificationsAccounting undergraduate degree required, Master’s preferredCPA required8+ years of tax experience is required, preferably with High Net Worth IndividualsAdvanced knowledge of Federal and Georgia income tax laws and principles of individual and business taxation is requiredExcellent written and verbal communication skillsStrong time management, organizational and prioritization skillsStrong project management and delegation skillsWhy Join Bennett Thrasher?Bennett Thrasher is more than just a workplace — we foster a community of respect, innovation, and collaboration.
