This role is central to the company's strategic shift toward containerized workloads and serves as the primary technical owner of the container networking stack, including BGP-based routing within the OpenShift virtualization environment. The ideal candidate combines deep networking expertise with hands-on Linux and container platform administration skills, and thrives in a collaborative in-house IT setting.Key ResponsibilitiesNetworkingConfigure and maintain BGP routing within the OpenShift/OVN environment to ensure stable container network operationsManage VLANs, subnets, IP address management (IPAM), and internal DNSAdminister and troubleshoot load balancing solutions (MetalLB)Implement and maintain network policies and micro segmentation for container workloadsCollaborate with network teams on firewall rules, network security groups, and perimeter connectivityLinux & Windows InfrastructureAdminister Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) systems including patching, performance tuning, and troubleshootingMaintain storage infrastructure including LVM, NFS, and iSCSI configurationsWrite and maintain Bash and PowerShell scripts to automate routine tasksOpenShift & Container PlatformAdminister and maintain Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform (OCP) clusters in a hybrid Windows/Linux environmentManage OpenShift Virtualization (OVN-Kubernetes) networking, including BGP configuration and troubleshooting to ensure container availability and proper routingDeploy, configure, and maintain containerized workloads using Kubernetes-native patternsManage Operator Lifecycle Manager (OLM), Helm charts, and pod/container lifecycle across clustersOversee namespace management, RBAC policies, resource quotas, and service accountsSupport the organization's migration from traditional infrastructure to containerized workloadsAutomation (a plus, not required)Exposure to Infrastructure as Code tools such as Ansible or Terraform is a plusFamiliarity with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitLab CI, Jenkins) or GitOps practices is a plusComfort working in Git for version control and documentation is a plusRequired Qualifications4–5+ years of experience in infrastructure engineering, systems administration, or a related roleHands-on experience with Red Hat OpenShift or Kubernetes cluster administrationStrong working knowledge of BGP and container networking (OVN-Kubernetes preferred)Proficient in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) administrationExperience with Windows Server and Active Directory in a hybrid environmentHands-on experience managing containerized workloads and pod lifecycle in Kubernetes/OpenShiftSolid understanding of networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, DNS, VLANs, load balancing, firewallsStrong scripting skills in Bash; PowerShell a plusPreferred QualificationsRed Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) or Red Hat Certified Specialist in OpenShift AdministrationCertified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) or equivalentExposure to DevOps practices Infrastructure as Code (Ansible, Terraform), CI/CD pipelines, or GitOps workflows is a plus, but not requiredExperience supporting a containerization migration or modernization initiativeCore CompetenciesProblem-solving: Able to diagnose complex multi-layer issues spanning networking, OS, and container platformsCollaboration: Works effectively with application teams, network engineers, and security staffAdaptability: Comfortable operating in a hybrid environment during an active technology transformationDocumentation: Maintains accurate runbooks, architecture diagrams, and change recordsContinuous Learning: Stays current with evolving container and cloud-native technologiesThis job description is intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed.
