This role supports that mission by driving quality substation engineering projects throughout the United States.\n\nResponsibilities\nAs a Substation Project Manager, you will manage projects of all sizes and complexities, working closely with design teams to execute and deliver client solutions.\n\nManage and lead projects and programs throughout the entire life cycle.\n\nWork independently and/or mentor and supervise Project Engineers, EITs, Coordinators, Designers, CADD technicians, and administrative staff.\n\nOversee team workload, schedule, quality, utilization, morale, and performance.\n\nWhen applicable, oversee non‑engineering project components such as public engagement, agency permitting, right‑of‑way acquisition, and construction management.\n\nLead the QA/QC process per HDR’s Quality Management Systems (QMS) requirements.\n\nSupport client management and engage in broader business development activities with existing and target clients.\n\nCoordinate with Area and Regional leadership and HDR’s Talent Acquisition team to develop a hiring plan.\n\nWork share with staff in multiple offices to execute projects.\n\nRepresent HDR to support marketing and proposal development for new opportunities.\n\nPreferred Qualifications\n\nBachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, a related field, or equivalent experience.\n\nMinimum of 2 years of project management experience.\n\nFE, PE license preferred; PMP in lieu of PE.\n\nExperience or exposure to system projections, planning, communication, distribution, and transmission lines, as well as public involvement, environmental permitting, and real estate acquisition is an added benefit.\n\nExcellent organizational, project management, and communication (both written and verbal) skills; ability to interact with various design teams.\n\nRequired Qualifications\n\nBachelor's degree in a related field.\n\n7 years of related experience.\n\nMinimum of 2 years of project management experience.\n\nExcellent organizational, project management, and communication (written and verbal) skills; ability to interact with design teams.\n\nCommitment to being an active participant in HDR’s employee‑owned culture.\n\nPreferred Locations\nPhoenix, Arizona (primary location). Projects may also be based in multiple U.S. locations such as Austin, Denver, Seattle, and others.\n\nIndustry and Schedule\nPower | Full‑time | Regular employee status.\n\nCompensation and Benefits\nThe targeted salary range is $105,403 – $190,200, depending on location, experience, and education.
