This position may also be responsible for supervising a team within the carpenter scope of work. Carpenters utilize a variety of tools and specialized equipment. Role responsibilities are not all encompassing as specific work tasks, project types, and build phases drastically vary. This is a broad representation of the type of tasks and requirements required of Carpenters at JE Dunn. All activities will be performed in support of the strategy, vision and values of JE Dunn.\nAutonomy and Decision-Making: Follows directions and refers all exceptions to supervisor.\nCareer Path: Trade Foreman 1\nKey Role Responsibilities - Core\nCARPENTER FAMILY - CORE\nWorking knowledge of all concrete tools and carpentry hand tools.\nBasic understanding and use of principles of layout and construction math as necessary per project needs.\nSets forms for concrete including but not limited to foundations, SOG, bulkheads.\nPlacement of concrete with bucket, chute, pump and placement procedures, agitation etc.\nBasic acceptable finishing of concrete with floats and trowels (columns/walls/foundations).\nCleans and maintains concrete and forming tools.\nProficiency with the basic elements of framing or forming.\nInstallation of in-wall and roof blocking/general carpentry.\nInstallation of safety railings, floor openings and general safety items.\nErects temporary partitions and doors.\nAssists in the installation of doors, frames & hardware.\nResponsible for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) compliance and following OSHA standards.\nAdheres to JE Dunn safety standards.\nRole requires personal ownership of all necessary hand tools and pouches.\nExpected behavioral standards:\nShows up and is ready to work when scheduled\nCommunicates absence or tardiness with supervisor as early as possible\nShows respect for yourself and others\nWorks safely\nHas a can-do attitude\nKey Role Responsibilities - Additional Core\nCARPENTER 3\nIn addition, this position will be responsible for the following:\nConcrete Carpentry Specialty:\nPlacement of rebar according to plans and specs\nPerforms layout activities as it relates to the specific task\nApplies advanced understanding of formwork systems and installation (columns / walls)\nInstallation of PT accessories, cables, chairs, reinforcing, blocking, etc.\nPerforms advanced placement and finishing of concrete flatwork\nIdentifies and understands construction details as it relates to concrete carpentry\nFinish Carpentry Specialty:\nQuality installation of casework and countertops\nQuality installation all types of running trim and wood paneling\nQuality installation of doors, hardware and accessories\nIdentifies, understands, and applies construction details as it relates to finish carpentry\nLeads by example, providing proper guidance and instruction to team.\nTeaches and trains the team to perform scope of work to the highest quality standard.\nDemonstrates excellent expertise within concrete and/or finished carpentry.\nReads and understands project plans within applicable scope of work.\nResponsible for completing JE Dunn reports and pre-task planning.\nResponsible for material forecasting for specific task.\nCoordinates and implements safety procedures for tasks.\nCoordinates with foreman on upcoming work and durations.\nKnowledge, Skills & Abilities\nAbility to perform work accurately and completely, and in a timely manner\nEffective Communication skills, verbal and written\nKnowledge of specific trades and scopes of work\nKnowledge of all carpentry hand tools, use and own all required hand tools and pouches\nKnowledge of all concrete tools and how they work\nBasic understanding of principles of layout and construction math\nKnowledge of setting forms for concrete (Foundations / SOG / Bulkheads)\nAbility to complete assigned duties with minimal guidance\nAbility to provide excellent customer service\nAbility to build relationships and collaborate within a team, both internally and externally\nEducation\nHigh School Diploma or GED (Preferred)\nApprentice and/or Vocational/Technical/Trade training (Preferred)\nIn lieu of the above requirements, equivalent relevant experience will be considered.\nExperience\n5+ years experience in specific trade (Required)\n5+ years commercial construction experience (Preferred)\nWorking Environment\nMust be able to lift at least to 50 pounds\nMay be exposed to extreme conditions (hot or cold)\nMust be willing to work non-traditional hours to meet project needs\nMust have reliable transportation\nMay require use of respirator\nMust be comfortable working at projected heights, narrow workspaces, various depths (trenches)\nFrequent activity: Standing, Walking, Climbing, Bending, Kneeling, Carrying, Swinging, Reaching above Shoulder, Pushing, Pulling, Balancing\nOccasional activity: Sitting, Viewing Computer Screen\nSpecific environmental and physical requirements may vary by project type/location\nAt JE Dunn, our approach to benefits means caring for the whole person, and it begins with a comprehensive benefits program that meets families' needs.
