RSU5 DURHAM-FREEPORT-POWNALDistrictwide Technology Support Technician (583)2026-2027DistrictQualifications IncludeEducation, training, and/or professional experience in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related technical support field.Proficiency with common operating systems (Windows, macOS, ChromeOS, iPadOS) and the everyday hardware found in a school setting, including desktops, laptops, tablets, Chromebooks, printers, projectors, and interactive displays.Familiarity with device management and deployment tools (e.g., imaging, MDM, Google Admin Console).Working understanding of basic networking concepts, including ethernet, cabling standards, Wi-Fi connectivity, and Local Area Networks (LAN) across multiple locations — sufficient to troubleshoot end-user connectivity issues.Skill in diagnosing and repairing hardware and software problems on a wide range of devices and peripherals.Ability to install, configure, and update software and applications on district devices.Familiarity with basic scripting or automation is helpful but not required.Commitment to continuous learning to keep pace with emerging classroom and support technologies.Strong problem-solving, organizational, and customer-service skills, with an emphasis on clear communication with non-technical users.Ability to manage time effectively, prioritize a queue of support requests autonomously, and follow tickets through to resolution.Ability to form and sustain productive relationships with colleagues, district employees, students, suppliers, and the public.Ability to lift, move, and set up technology equipment as needed.Hold valid State of Maine Criminal History Records Check (CHRC) Approval.Willingness to learn and be flexible with day-to-day responsibilities.Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited ToProvide front-line (Tier 1/Tier 2) technical support to staff and students, responding to, logging, tracking, and resolving help desk tickets in a timely manner.Install, configure, image, deploy, and maintain end-user devices and peripherals — including desktops, laptops, Chromebooks, tablets, printers, and classroom technology — in accordance with established procedures and standards.Perform hands-on troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance of IT equipment, following manufacturer recommendations and district specifications.Support classroom technologies such as projectors, interactive displays, document cameras, sound systems, and assistive devices.Assist with basic account support, including password resets and account provisioning/deprovisioning for incoming and outgoing staff and students under established procedures.Troubleshoot end-user network and Wi-Fi connectivity issues and escalate infrastructure-level problems to network/systems staff as appropriate.Maintain accurate technology inventory and asset records, including device assignment, tagging, and tracking throughout the equipment lifecycle.Coordinate with contractors and vendors for warranty claims and the repair of IT hardware and software as directed.Assist with printing and copying services, including basic troubleshooting and coordination of supplies and service as needed.Provide technical support and informal training to staff and end-users, helping them make effective use of district technology.Attend meetings, engage in professional development, demonstrate professionalism, and contribute to a positive work environment, aligning actions with the district's mission and goals.Partake in live-streaming district board meetings on a rotation with other Technology Team members.Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Technology, including but not limited to on-call emergency support and participation in educational activities to maintain skills relevant to the environment.Requirements Requirements:Must hold valid CHRC Certification from the ME Dept. of Education.Position remains open until suitable candidate is found.Please apply directly on our district website: www.rsu5.org
