The individual in this role will be involved in the design, implementation, and characterization of neutral-atom quantum computing systems, and collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team of physicists, engineers, and computer scientists to push the boundaries of quantum computing using neutral-atom platforms.\n\nResponsibilities\n\nDesign and build state-of-the-art neutral atom quantum computers.\n\nCollaborate with engineering teams to verify and validate modules and subsystems.\n\nInvestigate sources of noise and decoherence and propose mitigation strategies.\n\nAnalyze experimental data and draw meaningful conclusions to guide system improvements.\n\nStay current with the latest advancements in AMO physics and quantum computing.\n\nQualifications\n\nPh.D. or equivalent experience in Physics or a related field, with a focus on Atomic, Molecular, and Optical (AMO) physics.\n\nHands‑on experience with quantum computing platforms and technologies.\n\nProven experience working with neutral atoms, trapped ions or other quantum systems.\n\nProven experience architecting and integrating complex systems with both hardware and software components.\n\nExcellent problem‑solving abilities and analytical skills, a self‑starting, inventive attitude towards problem‑solving.\n\nEffective communication and teamwork skills.\n\nProficient programming skills in languages such as Python, C++, or similar.\n\nTrack record of publications in reputable peer‑reviewed journals.\n\nProficient with Git, GitHub.\n\nThe approximate base salary range for this position is $130,400 - $211,900.\n\nWe consistently monitor external market data and update base salary ranges accordingly. We determine base compensation decisions on several factors, including geographic placement, role‑specific knowledge, skills, and/or experience.
