Our student services include: alternative education programs for low incident, special needs populations; programs for the multi-handicapped; therapy and services for students requiring specialized support; and a full range of transportation services for both the special needs and general education population. We coordinate collegial sharing opportunities for various professional groups, conduct executive searches and offer a wide range of professional development and training opportunities for the educators and support personnel of our member districts. #WeAreOneCollaborative\n\nGeneral Summary\nUnder the general supervision of the Transportation Department, the Bus Driver has the primary\nresponsibility for ensuring the health, safety and welfare of the children during transport to and from school. This is a school-year position. There is no expectation of employment when school is not in session. Additional trips and summer work may be available to interested drivers.\n\nEssential Functions:\nCompletes a daily circle check inspection of the bus and reports any conditions of concern to the Transportation Office.\nEnsures that the two-way radio is in proper working order.\nEnsures the bus always has sufficient fuel.\nArranges for and ensures completion of routine maintenance of the bus (e.g. oil change).\nTransports the vehicle to and from maintenance facility and provides notification regarding maintenance to the Transportation Office.\nMaintains current route information.\nOperates the bus in compliance with all road and safety regulations.\nFollows safe bus loading and unloading procedures.\nFollows procedures to guarantee no child is left alone on the bus without adult supervision at any time.\nVerifies that all children have departed the bus at the end of each bus route (morning, evening, field trips, or other special trips).\nAssures that the bus is clean and disinfected, and in proper working condition at all times.\nIn case of accidents/emergencies, evacuates children according to written and practiced procedures.\nAssures that emergency procedures are followed in the event of an accident.\nAttends and participates in mandatory training and other continuing education opportunities.\nPerforms other duties, as assigned.\nMaintains CPR/First Aid certification. (The employer will provide training.)\nFollows all Cape Cod Collaborative policies and procedures.\n\nAdditional Requirements:\nMaintains a current CDL license with all necessary endorsements, or 7D license, based on route assignment.\nIs over the age of twenty-one (21).\nKnowledge of methods and procedures in safely transporting students to school.\nMust complete required CORI and fingerprint background checks.\nMust comply with mandatory random drug and alcohol testing.\nMust be capable of lifting 40 lbs. and pushing wheelchairs. Must be able to move through the bus, and to assist students in an emergency evacuation.\nAbility to properly secure wheelchairs which includes bending, pulling, and lifting\n\nWorking Conditions:\nMust be able to work a flexible schedule.\nThis job involves sitting for long periods as well as stooping, squatting, lifting, carrying, pushing and climbing.\nThere is the potential of infrequent exposure to blood and bodily fluids. There is risk involved with travel on roads and highways.\nMust be able to enter and exit a vehicle without assistance, must be able to move physically throughout the bus, and withstand exposure to adverse weather conditions.\n\nWorking Hours:\nWorking hours are dependent upon route assignment.
