The Assistant supports the academic and social development of children; ensuring a safe, enriching, and healthy learning environment. Group Assistants use a variety of resources, provided by the School Age Manager to introduce new skills throughout the execution of activities. To accomplish this, Group Assistants are required to participate in ongoing professional development and planning sessions with the School Age Manager on a scheduled basis.\nSalary Range: $15.40 - $15.75 per hour\nDepartment: Children's Center\nEmployment Type: Temporary Hourly Seasonal - Non-Exempt\nExperience/Education/Certification Requirements:\nMust be at least 19 years of age or older.\nHigh School Diploma or equivalent (GED).\nA minimum of one-year prior experience working with children under 12 years of age preferred.\nGroup management, problem solving, and conflict resolution skills.\nAbility to support interactive and educational/artistic activities, youth development, academic enrichment and arts.\nMust possess oral, auditory and written communication skills appropriate for interacting with both children and adults.\nFlexibility, with the ability to adapt to changing circumstances.\nAll McGaw YMCA employees are required to support the YMCA's commitment to child abuse prevention. The YMCA enforces its policies and practices to prevent child abuse. The McGaw YMCA will not tolerate the mistreatment or abuse of youth in its programs. All reports of suspicious or inappropriate behavior with youth or an allegation of abuse will be taken seriously.
