L3Harris Engineering Managers possess the skills of a top‑notch influencer, motivator, and leader who can grow a team of engineers while advancing their own career in a management role and in engineering leadership.\n\nEssential Functions\nEngineering Individual Contributor\n\nAnalog and digital design of ruggedized electronics for ordnance applications.\n\nCircuit tolerance analyses using hand calculations and Spice tools.\n\nRequirements development, refinement, and compliance.\n\nGenerate test plans and test reports related to product performance (Brassboard, Design Verification, Qualification, Firing Properties, etc.).\n\nLead and direct test activities in all phases of product development cycle.\n\nLead failure investigations using structured tools (8D, Fishbone, Cause & Effect, etc.).\n\nGenerate material for and participate in design reviews for all phases of the product development cycle.\n\nAct as technical interface to internal and external customers.\n\nProvide inputs (material and labor estimates) for Requests for Proposals (RFPs).\n\nManagement\n\nAssist department manager in defining, maintaining, and improving the department’s development processes and best practices.\n\nEnsure staff are properly using best practices and the development processes on their assigned programs.\n\nProvide regular labor and resource planning to support programs and activities.\n\nActively support all phases of hiring activities for the team.\n\nSupport management of morale and work to proactively mitigate attrition.\n\nSupport succession planning and identification/development of key talent.\n\nCarry out performance management and goal setting of all direct reports, both formal and informal. Provide meaningful, constructive feedback to ensure the development of each staff member.\n\nLead performance improvement plan formulation and execution as needed.\n\nProactively support reward and recognition activities for the staff members. Develop and submit merit recommendations during the yearly merit review cycle.\n\nPerform conflict resolution between teammates as required.\n\nTake an active role in the professional development of each staff member. May include identification, guidance, and support of formal training, on‑job training, mentoring, and/or new program assignments.\n\nProactively mentor, coach, assist, and/or provide additional help to engineers in the analysis, design, build, integration, test, validation, verification, documentation, and/or maintenance of products.\n\nFoster an individual and team culture of Continuous Improvement (CI).\n\nAbility to obtain security clearance if required.\n\nMust be a U.S. Person.\n\nQualifications\n\nBachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline with minimum of 6 years prior related experience. Graduate degree with a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.\n\nProficiency with Microsoft Office applications and various CAD/CAE tools is required.\n\nThe individual will have a history of setting high goals and standards for self, others, and the organization, be dissatisfied with average performance and assume full responsibility for results.\n\nThe individual will be a self‑starter, identify and understand issues, problems, and opportunities, effectively manage one's time and resources, and be a team player.\n\nStrong focus on originating action to improve existing conditions and processes, identifying improvement opportunities, generating ideas, and implementing solutions are also characteristics of a strong candidate.
