Brief DescriptionPurpose of Job This position is responsible for providing individualized care to patients in an emergency setting according to established standards, policies and procedures.Job FunctionsPrepares and transports patients for examinationAssists emergency staff in direct and non-direct patient care functions as delegatedPreforms EKGs and point of care testingApplies splints and braces on patients as ordered assuring good CMS after application Performs mandatory equipment checks Documents the various aspects of care on appropriate forms according to RMC policies and proceduresAccompanies ambulance transports and assists with airway management as neededDemonstrates competencies in the specialty area of EmergencyAssists with patient-related activates under the supervision of the RN Prepares equipment and aids providers during examination, testing, and treatments of patientsMaintains stocked supplies of equipment in the emergency departmentPerforms other duties as assignedMinimum Education/Work ExperienceHigh school graduate or equivalentCompletion of a Nursing Assistant or EMT course OR completion of a Nurse Internship with Ridgeview Medical Center OR an approved equivalent combination of educaton and experienceKnowledge/Skills/AbilitiesStrong communication and listening skillsAbility to meet and maintain the necessary background checks as aligned with position functionsAbility to work and multi-task in a high stress and fast paced environmentCapable of making independent decisions with the use of good critical thinking and problem solving skillsAbility to work autonomously and as a teamAbility to respond appropriately to unpredictable situations and diverse patient populationsKnowledge of basic computer functionsAbility to communicate in the English language for effective written and verbal correspondence in order to complete job functions as mentioned above License/Certification Current Healthcare Provider BLS Certification Preferred QualificationsEMT CertificationNursing Assistant CertificationExperience as a Nursing Assistant or EMTExperience in a hospital settingPhysical Demands Link to Employee Health Physical Demands
