This role coordinates assignments\nand tasks with all departments and supports accurate reporting, compliance, strong internal\ncontrols, and effective financial planning within a manufacturing environment.\nKey responsibilities\n Develop and maintain ongoing evaluation of financial systems and procedures in\ncompliance with generally accepted standards for financial control and corporate\npolicies.\n Ensure complete, accurate, consistent, and timely accounting records.\n Provide complete, accurate, timely, consistent, and relevant management\ninformation.\n Maintain strong, cooperative relationships with Magna Seating Systems/Intier and\nMagna Finance functions.\n Support favorable audit outcomes through strong controls, reporting, and compliance\npractices.\n Drive continuous improvement in financial management strength within the Finance\nfunction and among Operations Managers.\n Support efficient and effective financial planning processes.\n Manage funds flow effectively, including cash, accounts receivable and collections,\nand accounts payable and disbursements.\n Support the development and maintenance of the MSC business planning process.\n Ensure complete, accurate, timely, and consistent recording and summarization of\nfinancial information in accordance with financial control and corporate policies.\n Develop and maintain control systems to safeguard assets and effectively monitor\noperations.\n Participate in weekly IT meetings with the Controller and IT team.\n Participate in, adhere to, and help develop operating procedures as part of ongoing\nISO 14001 and IATF 16949 implementation activities.\n Adhere to all MAFACT requirements.\n Abide by all AODA and C-TPAT procedures that apply to the role.\n Ensure all administrative duties are completed thoroughly, accurately, on time, and as\nscheduled.\n Conduct informal and formal performance reviews as required and ensure\nperformance reviews are completed for employees.\n Build and foster teamwork within the department by creating a respectful,\ncollaborative, and communicative environment.\n Attend departmental and plant-wide communication meetings as scheduled.\n Comply with, support, and model MSC operational procedures, policies, the\nEmployee Handbook, Magna’s Employee Charter, Corporate Constitution, and\nOperational Principles.\n Comply with relevant quality and environmental programs, including TS16949 and\nISO14001.\n Comply with all health and safety programs in accordance with OSHA.\n Follow and ensure Production Associates follow all company procedures and\nregulations regarding safety.\n Perform other duties as assigned.\nRequired qualifications\n University degree or college diploma in a specialized field such as Business or\nAccounting.\n Professional accounting designation such as CMA, CGA, or CA.\n Minimum 5 years of post-qualification experience in industrial accounting within the\nmanufacturing sector.\n Experience in auto parts manufacturing is an asset.\n Practical experience with computers and Microsoft Office.\n Strong math skills and the ability to analyze financial and operational data.\n Strong listening and communication skills, both verbal and written.\n Strong attention to detail and organizational ability.\n Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with a variable workload and\nflexible hours.\n Ability to understand, anticipate, and follow direction while exercising mature\njudgment.\n Ability to interact effectively with team members across departments.\n Ability to maintain confidentiality and use discretion and tact.\n Physically capable of performing the essential duties of the role.\nEquipment familiarity\n Computer systems\n Measuring instruments\n Communication devices\nWorking conditions\nUnder the general direction of the Controller, the Assistant Controller works independently\nand confers regularly with others as needed. Rare travel may be required, including\noccasional overnight stays at various locations.\nOvertime may be required to meet expectations. The role may involve exposure to plant\nconditions such as temperature variation and noise during time spent in the facility.
