Job OverviewTo provide administrative support to a Law Practice that serves Texas and also various cities throughout the US. Combine law practice experience and knowledge to assist the Lawyer and legal team in reference to running and maintaining law firm, clientele, filing system, and related software, providing ethical and efficient service.Responsibilities and DutiesCriminal and Civil LawPreparing case files: Gathering information and data, and preparing case files for hearingsCommunicating with clients and others: Interviewing clients and law enforcement, and communicating with attorneys, staff, and the publicMeets with attorneys, clients, and other professionals to discuss assigned cases or projects.Preparing for trial: Assisting attorneys in preparing for trial, including attending hearings, trials, and depositionsDrafting legal documents: Drafting pleadings, orders, notices, subpoenas, and correspondenceMaintaining records: Maintaining case management databases, and documenting and maintaining required records and statisticsResearches and analyzes statutes, regulations, legal articles, judicial decisions, and other legal sources; provides written analysis to attorneys.Interviews clients and witnesses and prepares summaries of their statements.Prepares, organizes, stores, and retrieves case files, which may include evidence, exhibits, depositions, pleadings, exhibits, and other items.Performs other related duties as assigned.Communicates with government agencies.Personal Injury LawMedical records: Order medical and billing records and electronically file in state and federal courtsSettlement documents: Assist with the preparation of settlement documentsInsurance coverage: Review policies, claims, and other records to determine insurance coverage eligibilityRequired Skills and QualificationsBilingual in English and SpanishAbility pass background checksKnowledge of the Texas Rules of Civil Procedure, Texas Family Code, county local rules, and individual court policies and procedures for Hidalgo and Bexar CountyUnderstanding of legal language and principles, research methods, court pleadings and processes, and other related matters,Knowledge of e-filing system (state and federal)Ability to work in a fast-paced environment at times, and not be easily stressed by difficult clients or handling multiple tasks simultaneouslyProficiency in Microsoft OfficeExcellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and SpanishInitiative and the ability to self-startExcellent time management skills with proven maintain due dates/deadlinesPunctualityReliable transportation, Valid Driver's License and Liability InsurancePreferred Qualifications and SkillsMulti-taskingStrong work ethicCulturally competent and emotionally intelligentDeadline managementManaging a high-volume phone (phone calls and text messages)Education and ExperienceTwo years of experience in Family, Criminal, and or Personal Injury law firm settingHigh School Diploma or GEDCollege degree preferredImmigration Law experience preferredJob TypeFull-Time 40-hour work week. M-F, 9a-6p, with 1-hour lunch with rotating Saturdays.Compensation$20.00 to $25.00/hour with the ability to grow, learn, and be challenged, depending on experience
